Understanding a Missouri auto insurance quote may often seem like trying to balance on a high wire or learn a new instrument. A lot of people find it confusing and intimidating but fortunately there are places where you can go for help, like this article. I hope that the following quick reference will help you contemplate some of the more frequently sold types of coverages. It’s certainly not an exhaustive compendium of everything you need to know about insurance, but you will certainly speak more intelligently the next time your talking to your agent.

Liability covers bodily injury and property damage (BI/PD). This covers your legal liability, up to the dollar limits you select, for damages caused to others in a covered vehicle accident. With the exception of a few states it is required that you maintain liability insurance for any vehicle you drive. The consequences of failing to maintain auto insurance coverage can be quite harsh, so ensure you always keep your auto insurance current.

Your insurance company will pay for damages to an injured person and/or property damage that you are legally obligated to pay as a result of an accident. You definitely want to ensure your next Missouri auto insurance quote covers you in the event you’re sued after an accident because your insurance company will pay for a lawyer to defend you. If you look at your current policy you will see your liability limits expressed as three numbers, for example, 25/50/25 or 100/300/100. The first number refers to the maximum amount (in thousands) that your insurance company will pay for bodily injury per person. The second number is the maximum amount that would be paid out for bodily injury per claim and the third number represents the maximum amount your insurance company will pay for property damage you cause.

Collision. If you buy collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damages in the event your vehicle collides with another vehicle or object. Collision coverage involves a deductible amount which you select when you purchase your policy. This amount is what you will pay before your insurance company begins paying damages. Remember, the deductible amount is the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim.

Comprehensive covers damage caused by events other than a car collision – such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail or flood. It also covers damage caused by your vehicle colliding with an animal. If your car is stolen, it will also cover the cost of a rental, subject to a daily limit. Similarly to your collision coverage, a deductible usually applies to comprehensive.

Medical Coverage. Depending on the state in which you live, you may have available to you Medical Payments coverage or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. While these both work differently, they provide coverage for medical care provided to you as a result of a car accident.

You’ll find that you have much more success mastering a job if you choose the right tool. Many people would agree that this exact same principle applies when selecting who you should call for a Missouri auto insurance quote. It is imperative that you have the right type of policy and ensure that you, your employees and your business are all protected in the unfortunate event that one of your vehicles is involved in an accident.

If you’re a business owner and you or your employees use a vehicle for business deliveries or to carry items to and from a job site, you may want to inquire about a commercial auto insurance policy that’s made to more closely suit your needs – and risks – of a business owner.

Here are some questions that can help you determine if you should contact your agent about a commercial auto quote instead of a personal Missouri auto insurance quote, courtesy of Comfort Insurance:

• Determine whether you need more liability coverage than your personal auto policy provides? A commercial auto policy generally provides higher limits of liability, but less or no coverage in areas that are typically not associated with commercial auto risks.

• Consider whether you need special coverage for situations associated with conducting business? Commercial auto policies also usually offer certain coverages. For instance, hired and non-owned auto coverage and coverage for towing a trailer for business use are usually not available with personal auto policies.

• Do you need to list any employees as drivers? You can do this with a commercial auto insurance policy.
• Do you use your vehicle for business purposes? If you use your vehicle for things like pizza or newspaper delivery, catering, door-to-door consulting service, landscaping or snowplowing service, logging business, day care/church retreat van service and/or farm-to-market delivery, you might need a commercial auto policy.

Insurance may be one of the last things that you think of when considering how to save time, but the insurance company you choose can actually have a big impact on your time if trouble strikes. Everyone wants to get the best price when searching for a Missouri auto insurance quote, but you must also ensure that the company you choose responds quickly if you have an accident. You definitely don’t want to spend days handling the claims/repair process yourself.

There are plenty of companies out there who will save you time and money through an efficient claims service process. When you’re seeking your next Missouri auto insurance quote you may want to see what Progressive Insurance can offer you. Their unique claims repair option takes only 15 minutes to complete and you need only drop off the damaged vehicle at one of their facilities offering this service and a claims representative handles the entire process for you— from start to finish.

There are many companies that offer a similar service to ensure that you receive the absolute best experience possible. In my opinion, and in my experience, here’s how the process should work:

1. You can call or go online to report a claim – anytime of the day or night – and schedule an appointment to bring the vehicle to a nearby facility offering a superior level of claims service.

2. In about 15 minutes, you’re in a rental car (if included on your policy) and have been given a general idea of when updates will be provided.

3. Your claims representative prepares an estimate and contacts an auto body shop that has met strict quality requirements. Your insurance company and the repair facility reach an agreement on the cost of the repairs and the shop moves the vehicle to the facility to begin repairs.

4. When work is finished, the vehicle is returned to the appropriate facility. Your claims representative and the repair shop inspect the repairs and you are called to pick up your vehicle after both parties are satisfied. Finally, you inspect the repairs and, if satisfied, drive off with a guarantee on those repairs for as long as you own the vehicle.

As you can see, it’s important that your next Missouri auto insurance quote seek out more than just the cheapest price. You must find a provider that can assist you with obtaining quality insurance which will protect your investment in the event of an accident. We highly suggest that you select an independent insurance agent to discuss your options and ensure that you continue receiving quality service and coverage.

If you’ve ever purchased auto insurance before you may have made your purchase without really understanding what you’re buying. It’s important that all consumers separate the fact from the fiction when getting a Missouri auto insurance quote. A simple mistake can cost you hundreds of dollars in additional premium or tens of thousands of dollars if you have an accident and are not covered properly.

Please read the following five insurance myths and consider your own knowledge of the subject the next time you get a Missouri auto insurance quote:

Myth: “Full coverage” insurance protects everything.
Reality: You cannot purchase “full coverage” insurance because there really is no such thing. In fact, most states only require that you carry liability insurance. There are a lot of other coverage options out there, so select what you need and can afford based on your personal situation.

Myth: I must get multiple estimates before my insurance company will repair my wrecked vehicle.
Reality: This may or may not be true. A few insurers actually require you to get more than one estimate, although the majority do not. If your insurance company has an approved “network” of shops, and you decide to use one of these shops to repair your vehicle, you may only need one estimate.

Myth: My insurance rate will definitely increase if I file a claim.
Reality: It depends upon the company. Depending upon your company’s policy your rate can increase, decrease or stay the same. Your previous driving history, along with other factors, determines whether or not your rate will change as the result of an accident.

Myth: Damage to my car is covered if I lend it to someone and he/she crashes it.
Reality: Not necessarily. If the individual who wrecks the vehicle does not have the optional physical damage coverages, your vehicle will most likely not be covered.

Myth: If I buy a new car, my auto insurance company automatically knows; and my new car is covered.
Reality: No. Most insurance companies require that you notify them or your agent within a specified number of days. The generally accepted number of days for which you automatically have coverage is 30.

You’ve now learned that it’s not difficult to separate the fact from fiction if you just spend a little time learning about what you need to know the next time you request a Missouri auto insurance quote. Now that you have the necessary information you may contact an agent with confidence, knowing that you are familiar with the important concepts.

With vacation season already here, you’re probably thinking about your annual trip to the beach or the mountains. While most people spend a great deal of time looking for ways to maximize their budget, one costly decision is often left to the last minute – whether to buy the optional insurance offered by a rental car company. It’s important when seeking a Missouri auto insurance quote that you make sure you’re protected. Read below to find out whether the extra coverage is necessary.

Deciding whether to buy additional insurance at the rental car counter can be a confusing experience—especially if you don’t know if you’re already covered by your auto insurance policy. The cost of the insurance offered by rental companies can range from $7 and $25 per day, depending on the rental car company, vehicle make and model and type of waiver.

Follow these three tips, courtesy of Comfort Insurance, to help you decide whether or not to purchase additional coverage from the rental agency:

1. Check with your credit card company. Some credit card companies provide coverage at no charge if you use their card to pay for your rental vehicle. Make sure you check the restrictions from your credit card company as there are often many restrictions on this coverage.

2. Consult with an independent insurance agency. As licensed insurance professionals, independent agents and brokers can review your policies to determine if the coverage you have on your personal vehicle provides protection for you in a rental car. When your getting your next Missouri auto insurance quote, ask about whether your insurance will cover rental vehicles. It’s certainly possible that your current policy will protect you in the event of damage to your rental car, but you will want to be sure before refusing coverage.

3. Take your auto insurance policy and details of your coverages with you to the rental car counter. These papers may be helpful if you are asked an insurance question you cannot answer. Additionally, these papers will contain your agent’s name and phone number. Your insurance agent or a representative should always be available to answer any question such as whether or not your coverage applies.

Knowing whether your current policy covers your rental vehicle will save you money and give you peace of mind so you can enjoy your vacation. Don’t start off your trip questioning your decisions—take control by talking with your independent agent or broker and knowing the answers to those inevitable questions.

To learn more about all your independent agency can offer you, including a Missouri auto insurance quote, please visit our homepage.

There are many places that you can go to purchase auto insurance, so who should you contact to purchase that Missouri auto insurance policy?

You could try a captive agency – but the unfortunate reality is that they are only able to offer you one company’s products. If the price is too high or the coverage not exactly what you’re looking for than you really have no choice but to move on. So what other Missouri auto insurance options are available to the average consumer?

One suggest is to try out a local independent agency. The advantage these folks have is in the selection of companies available. Instead of only offering one company’s products they often offer 5 or 6. This will not only save you money but time as well. When your insurance comes up for renewal an independent agent can re-quote your Missouri auto insurance with multiple carriers so that you do not have to go through the process again.

So give your local independent agent a call or visit us at www.insurancecomfort.com for more information.

Auto insurance may be one of the last things that comes to mind when you think about saving time, but the insurance company you choose can actually have a big impact on your time should trouble strike. It’s great to save money on your Missouri auto insurance, but it’s also important that the company you choose is responsive in the event of an accident.

If you’re in an accident that results in a claim, you could spend days handling the claims/repair process yourself. That’s one reason it’s a good idea to check out Missouri auto insurance options that can save you time. For instance, the concierge-level of claims service offered by The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies is a unique claims repair option that takes only 15 minutes to complete. Simply drop off the damaged vehicle at one of Progressive’s facilities offering this service and a claims representative handles the entire claims/repair process for you— from start to finish.

Here’s how the process works:

You can call or go online to report a claim—anytime of the day or night—and schedule an appointment to bring the vehicle to a nearby facility offering the concierge-level of claims service.
In about 15 minutes, you’re in a rental car (if included on your policy) with assurance that you’ll receive updates from your claims representative.

Your claims representative prepares a repair estimate and contacts an auto body shop that has met strict quality requirements. Progressive and the shop reach an agreement on the cost of the repairs and the shop trans-ports the vehicle to the facility to begin repairs.

When work is finished, the vehicle is returned to the insurance facility, where your claims representative and the body shop inspect the repairs. After the insurance company is satisfied with the repairs, you are called to pick up your car. You inspect the repairs and, if satisfied, drive off with a guarantee on those repairs for as long as you own the vehicle.

As you can see, it’s important that you choose a Missouri auto insurance provider that can assist you with obtaining a quality insurance which will protect your investment in the event of an accident. We highly suggest that you select an independent insurance agent to discuss your options and ensure that you continue receiving quality service and coverage.

Using the right tool for a job is key to success in any profession. Experts say the same principle applies when selecting a Missouri auto insurance policy. Having the right type of policy can help ensure that you, your employees and your business are all protected in the unfortunate event that one of your vehicles is involved in an accident.

If you’re a business owner and you or your employees use a vehicle for business-related deliveries or to carry certain materials to and from a job site, you may need a commercial auto insurance policy that’s tailored to more closely suit the needs—and risks—of a business vehicle operator.

Here are some questions that can help you determine if you might need a commercial auto policy instead of a personal Missouri auto insurance policy, courtesy of Comfort Insurance:

• Do you need more liability coverage than your personal auto policy provides? Generally, a commercial auto policy provides higher limits of liability, but less or no coverage in areas that are typically not associated with commercial auto risks.

• Do you need special coverage for situations associated with con-ducting business? Commercial auto policies also usually offer certain coverages—such as hired and non-owned auto coverage and coverage for towing a trailer for business use—that are not available with personal auto policies.

With vacation season in full swing, you may be in the process of planning an annual getaway. While most people spend lots of time looking for ways to maximize their budget, one costly decision is often left to the last minute – whether to buy the optional insurance offered by a rental car company. If you have Missouri auto insurance you may already be protected. Read below to find out whether you should spend the extra money at the rental counter.

“Deciding whether to buy ‘damage waivers’ or insurance at the rental car counter can be a confusing experience—especially if you don’t know if you’re already covered by your personal auto insurance policy,” said Rick Crawley of the Progressive Group of Insurance Companies. “Optional rental car insurance can cost between $7 and $25 per day, depending on the rental car company, vehicle make and model and type of waiver. Those daily charges can significantly add to the cost of your rental.”

Follow these three tips, courtesy of Comfort Insurance, to help you decide whether or not you should buy the coverage:

1. Consult with an independent insurance agency – like Comfort Insurance. As licensed insurance professionals, independent insurance agents and brokers can review and evaluate your policies to find out if the coverage you have on your personal vehicle provides protection for you in a rental car. Some Missouri auto insurance may cover you in the event of damage to your rental car, but you will want to be sure before refusing coverage.

2. Check with your credit card company. Some credit card companies provide coverage at no charge if you use their card to charge the cost of the rental. However, some restrictions may apply so be sure to ask for a description of the exact coverages provided.

3. Take your personal auto insurance policy and details of your coverages with you to the rental car counter. You may be asked a question that these papers can help answer—or, if you’re in doubt, you’ll have your agent’s name and phone number readily available. Your insurance agent or a representative should always be available to answer any question such as whether or not your coverage applies.

“Knowing whether you need to buy additional coverage can save you money and give you peace of mind so you can enjoy your vacation. Don’t start off your trip questioning your decisions—take control by talking with your independent agent or broker and knowing the answers to those inevitable questions.”

Understanding Missouri auto insurance can often be like trying to learn a foreign language. Many find it confusing and intimidating. Fortunately, there’s help. Here is a quick reference designed to help you understand some of the most common kinds of coverages. It’s not a complete list of everything you need to know about insurance, but it will certainly help you speak more intelligently next time your talking to your agent.

Liability covers bodily injury and property damage (BI/PD). This covers your legal liability, up to the dollar limits you select, for damages caused to others in a covered vehicle accident. In most states today, including Missouri, liability insurance is mandatory. There are serious consequences if you choose not to purchase Missouri auto insurance, so always ensure you have coverage.

Under BI/PD, your insurance company pays for damages to an injured person and for property damage that you are legally obligated to pay as a result of an accident. If your Missouri auto insurance policy covers you in the event you’re sued after an accident, your insurance company will pay for a lawyer to defend you. Liability limits generally appear as three numbers, for example, 25/50/25 or 100/300/100. The first number refers to the maximum amount, in thousands, that your insurance company is obligated to pay for bodily injury per person. The second number is the maxi-mum that would be paid out for bodily injury per claim and the third number represents the maxi-mum amount your insurance company is obligated to pay for property damage you cause.

Collision. When you buy collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damages if your vehicle collides with another vehicle or object. Collision coverage involves a deductible amount you select when you purchase your policy. This amount is what you are required to pay before your insurance company starts picking up the tab. Remember, the deductible amount is the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim.

Comprehensive covers damage caused by events other than a car collision — such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail or flood. It also covers damage caused by your vehicle colliding with an animal. And if your car is stolen, it will cover the cost of a rental, subject to a daily limit. Like collision coverage, a deductible usually applies.

Medical Coverage. Depending on the state in which you live, you may have available to you Medical Payments coverage or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. While these both work differently, they provide coverage for medical care provided to you as a result of a car accident.
