In this interesting conclusion, there is much left to be desired. Maybe, some of these stories will flesh out in the forth coming “real time” stories in Issues number 36 and beyond, but the conclusion to the Secret Origins story seems too open ended.

In this issue, Hal Jordan makes the Guardians upset by his questions—it seems that Hal Jordan represents who Americans often are. They ask the hard questions and they seek for the truth. We Americans don’t put up with a lot of double speak and smoke and mirrors—we must have straight talking. For Hal Jordan, this nearly gets him expelled.

I appreciated the prophecy concerning Sinestro—it was a good foreshadow of what is to come—or what has happened to this point in the “Real Time” time line. I think it will be interesting to see how Johns uses this story arc to build his story leading to the Blackest Night. There is the consistent undertone of something big—but is it the Blackest Night? Or is it the Sinestro War? Or does the Sinestro Wars lead to the Blackest night? They are interesting questions that we will see answered through the months and even years ahead.

While issues 32 and 33, were leading the secret Origin story through the details of Green Lantern’s developing friendship with Sinestro, Part 6 ties some of the threads together.

In this issue is the battle between Sinestro and Atrocitus. We also see the first time Hal Jordan overpowers something yellow. And we see the background story of Carol Ferris and her father’s illness.

This book is full of revelations and tying of loose ends. It is a good story to read in the context of the rest of the arc.

One of the biggest issues that this issue deals with is the immaturity of Hal Jordan, one, as a Green Lantern, and two, as he deals with his own personal issues. He finds that you can’t keep these separate that they will bleed into each other.

At this stage in his life, it is good to have a friend who understands—even if that friendship and fraternization is illegal.

Reading through the origin story of Hal Jordan, Green Lantern, we see his growing relationship with Sinestro. This relationship puts chills on a reader—while at the same time brings sympathy toward Sinestro. Leading to the question of whether Sinestro was a mad man, or a visionary.

While this back ground story doesn’t justify his evil response nor his shady techniques—it makes you wonder…”does he truly have a moral agenda that matches my own?”

In this book, we see the message from Abin Sur. The message of warning about Arocitus and his presence on Earth. This sets the tone for a new light shining on the Sinestro message and his agenda to change the rules of the Green Lanterns to be able to kill when necessary.

When read as a part of the seven issue arc, “Secret Origins” this book truly opens the mind’s eye to the deeper story behind Sinestro and the challenge of Green Lantern.
