Super Bowl Ads

Video game-maker Electronic Arts will advertise in Sunday’s Super Bowl but Pepsi opted out. To hear more from this morning’s NPR story (54 sec) read the transcript or listen here.

Hulu.com has also collected last year’s Super Bowl ads here at AdZone 2009.

News Just In! Find Newspapers @ Alden Library

Looking for the New York Times? Washington Post? Wall Street Journal?

Don’t forget that many national newspapers are just a short walk or a couple of clicks away via the Library. We have both the print editions and full-text online for many titles (and they’re free!)

To take the above three newspapers as an example:

Print Editions
New York Times (4th fl circ desk, just ask)
USA Today (4th fl newspaper shelving, help yourself)
Wall Street Journal (4th fl circ desk, just ask)

CON: can’t check them out PRO: they’re free!

Full-text Online (articles from print ed.)
New York Times (browse today’s paper in America’s Newspapers)
USA Today (browse today’s paper in America’s Newspapers)
Wall Street Journal (browse today’s paper in Wall Street Journal Online)

CON: images are not included PRO: access them from anywhere

Communication Teacher

I’ve talked to a couple students today about finding articles in the journal Communication Teacher. Here’s some more info in case you’ve run into the same problem.

As the ALICE record for this journal indicates, we can access the full text of the articles in this journal from 10/1/99 to 1 year ago. The database Communication and Mass Media Complete (OU registration required) does have records for newer issues, but you wont be able to find the full text.

If you need to read an article that is newer, OU-Athens students can use the Document Delivery service. After you have logged in (with your full name and PID) click the link to request an article. Then, just fill in all of the required information from your citation. You should receive an email in 1-2 business days when the article is ready. You’ll return to the Document Delivery site and find a PDF of the article that you can download, print or save.
