I can really identify with that, Diane: "...pushed rational thought aside." I certainly can't blame my weight on being busy learning things, either!

I did fall into a bad habit over the winter where I stopped at the gas station for breakfast after dropping my son off at school. I made a conscious decision one morning on the way to school that I was not going to stop for that unhealthy breakfast. Twenty minutes later I was tooling down the highway eating a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. I was distracted with thoughts about work and stopped at the gas station out of habit! This study reminded my a little of that experience.

I lived my life for years with my emotional side completely overrunning my rational side. I wish I could blame it on being busy learning things, but instead I just pushed rational thought aside when it came to healthy food choices.

This was a fascinating study - thanks for sharing.

Hi Jessica! I'm stopping by to say "Hi :-)" to you! I hope you're doing okay. Probably just very busy.

Totally agree about the little steps. I've been backsliding and need to re-introduce certain tiny changes.

I'd love a treadmill desk! My cubical at work has an adjustable keyboard desk piece so sometimes when my back is killing me I raise it all the way up so I can stand & work. I may have to do this more often!

This is a very good point. If a person is not making little changes, then they are not making meaningful changes that will work in the long run. And long-term change is all that really matters.

Some little changes: From mayo to yellow mustard. From Diet Pepsi to orange flavored green tea. From chip dip to hummus. From cold cereal to oatmeal. More veggies and fruits and less little cookies (that look like they barely have calories) for snacks.
