Teens arent the only ones using these websites. I recently just saw a business, auto shipping network, with a facebook page. it had all types of information such as the number +1 954-332-7846 where you can call the get a free quote and information about the company. and it also had 4000 fans! that is alot of people on facebook and they are fans of this one company. Pretty incredible.

The question of Facebook v Linkedin v Twitter for a professional service is a hard one, mostly based on the question of manpower. None of the three services have to take up a tremendous amount of time/effort if there is a strategy that is carried out on a tactical action plan. The problem with "lost hours" on social media is really due to the fact that many professionals don't know how to gauge or plan for the intangible results as they are being generated.

It could be compared to a fitness program really... you need to have specific goals for 4, 8, 12 weeks before you see certain material results (that the beginner can understand and grasp.) Without reaching a critical mass or conversion point, most beginners change from fitness program to fitness program never realizing that they made it 80% of the way on ten different programs... they just never reached the actual material goal on any single one before unknowingly throwing the effort away.

Thank you for this post - it was helpful. I am also trying to learn if you are a professional services biz how do I tailor using Facebook v LinkedIn v Twitter? I am also resource constrained among other things in terms of manpower so how do I structure which social media site to dedicate time to? - thanks!
