Oh Pat this reminds me so much of growing up in upstate NY and going skiing with my family to the same places mentioned, although Whiteface was a favorite. We also occasionally went up to Lake Placid for the Bobsledding competitions (watching not participating) and I can still hear the commenators calling out where they were on the track -- they're coming to the Little S, they're thru the Little S, they're coming to the zig-zag, they're zigging, they're zagging...

Yes, there is so much to do: skiing, skating, tobagoning (sp?), apres ski activities like hot tubs, etc.

Oh yes, way back in the 60's somebody gave sled dog rides on Mirror Lake. That was awsome! And we even were allowed to do down the bobsled run from the 1/2 mile mark in a 4-man sled (you have to hire the driver and brakeman) two at a time to feel the rush of excitement and the see the blurr of white. WOW, great memories!

Thanks for jogging my memory!

Now that is a whole hearted blog right there. I had a few people tell me to keep up on your blogs because it is something I should look into being a comm major. Although I had a blogging class last semester I didn't see it fit. You are doing a great job, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the gracious remarks.

The picture was actually taken at the Phipps Conservatory/Botanical garden in Pittsburgh. The garden had a glass exhibit and I had a friend snap the shot next to one of the glass pieces.

Sensational post, I like your writing style! I've added http://globalerie.com/patsweny/ to my feed reader, and will be reading your posts from now on. Just a quick question - did you design your header image yourself, or have it done professionally? If you had it done by a professional, who was it?

Pat, well stated! We must unite now in the hope that the United States of America will continue to persevere for the betterment of all our citizens, regardless of age, race, creed, or any other differences. We all are endowed with the same rights by virtue of the Constitution. From the unborn to the elderly, we all deserve the same consideration.

good post. I enjoy reading reports of other areas and the reaction to the election. I appreciate your mature reasoned reaction to the outcome even though your candidate did not achieve the Presidency. I have alot of repsect for Senator John McCain and supported his first bid for President when he entered the race against George Bush. I did not support his campaign this time. I think everyone is taking a wait and see approach now. This country is facing such difficult issues that great expectations have to be tempered by the reality of the economic downturn, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all the other problems the planet faces. We are all one people -Americans. It was fantastic to see that large a voter turnout.

Danny,

You bring up many good points. In fact, my writing style has been a constant problem throughout my writing career. I volunteered to write for this blog to share my experiences and enhance my writing skills. Reading feedback such as yours opens my eyes to become more cautious while typing.

I would like to say, however, that this is a blog not the Times. I am an Accounting major, not an English Literature masters student. I am often busy and rush through my postings. I apologize if this offends you, but I will say that I strive to improve myself in every way and writing is on the top of my list. In my defense I don’t believe I have ever used the word “thot” or “tho” and feel such an accusation is insulting.

If you read common mistakes in my writings please email me, and I would be more then happy to edit my current blogs as well as block future occurrences.

Thank you for your concern,

Pat Sweny
