Based on your recipe Rachel, it seems like it would be effective and tasty - even for a non vegan like myself.

Someone should create a "healthy libido cookbook" (assuming that one doesn't exist) because decreased libidos are normally a result of:

- Poor Diet (which leads to ineffective stress management & improper biological functions)
- Poor Outlook

Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Although I am guilty of owning a lot of stuff. I always look at what I'm buying and who I'm buying it from. I want to make sure that what I'm buying is of high quality to cut down on replacement, that it is sustainably sourced/produced, and that I'm happy to support the company I'm buying from.

There are a lot of people that talk the talk but don't walk the walk. The bottom line is that when you buy stuff you are making a statement with your dollars. If you want change in how stuff is sourced, created, and disposed of........its time to pay up.

This is a very simple thing yet it seems very hard to get people to implement.

At my office there are styrofoam cups available and I see the same people every day grab a new styrofoam cup everytime they get water or coffee. This is unbelievable to me. Do they just not care? Are they that lazy that they can't bring a mug or glass into work and leave it at their desk? Who knows. But with some people you have to tell them to do something - they can't be expected to do it on their own. I wish my office would stop providing styrofoam cups.

This is a great topic to post about. I hope more restaurants can get their customers to reuse. This will save quite a bit of unnecessary waste.

Comment on What to Eat – It’s Complicated! by blissfulrebelchick

JZPOS5: As someone who doesn’t believe in clear cut black and white ‘rules’ and a one-size-fits-all approach, I don’t feel I can make a blanket statement on how many ounces of meat you should be eating a day. That would depend on a number of factors unique to you and your body. Some people do need a high amount of protein, some need a moderate amount, and others need a low amount of protein. Personally, I feel fine not eating meat, but I MUST get enough protein overall in my diet or I don’t function well. My body lets me know. Part of it is understanding what your body needs and the other piece is actually listening to what your body is trying to tell you. Your body will always let you know when it is out of balance.

Recent statistics indicate that Americans eat a bit over eight ounces of meat a day, over 200 pounds of meat per year, which is roughly twice the global average. This figure takes into account everyone, including vegetarians, and people like me that don’t eat meat at all. For this reason, the average for meat eaters is likely higher than what has been documented. Eight ounces a day is clearly too much in my opinion.

I think it’s first important to recognize that while our bodies do need protein, it is a widespread misconception that meat is the only real source of protein. Many people cannot imagine their meal without eating meat. The Recommended Daily Allowance of protein is not as high as one might think and most people, including vegetarians, eat more protein than their bodies actually need.

Perhaps you can start by supplementing one or two plant based meals a week - in place of your meat?
Quinoa, amaranth, spirulina, and hemp are great sources of complete proteins. Leafy greens, legumes, nuts, seeds are also good sources of protein.

I know how frustrating this issue can be. There is a lot of old and outdated information out there. If you have any additional questions or want to speak further about your individual protein requirements, please send me an email and we can set up a consultation. I'd need to learn a bit more about you. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your question, jzpos5. Yep, we will use the soil in our garden this Spring. The rest we will give away to family and friends. Depending on how much we have, we may give some away to Freecycle.

I am a meat-eater (antibiotics and hormone free, etc.), but I do want to cut down on my meat consumption because I know it's too much. Do you know on average how much meat people should consume a week? To try to be more of a conscious meat-eater, should I only be eating 9oz or12oz of meat a week?
