I actually went down marshroad a few months ago and had a pretty abnormal experience there, 4 friends and i decided to take a trip down to marshroad for alittle spook fun, when we entered marshroad there was already a really wierd feel. We drove all the way through down to the bridge, crossed the bridge and nothing happened we got all the way to the end where the house was, turned around and got back to the bridge. Now everyone always says you have to park your car on the bridge and turn off your engine for something to really happen. We turned off the headlights and everything, parked there for a minute. at this point i really expected something to happen. A minute has past and we turned the car back on. Nothing spooky yet. Thinking to myself "aw, nothing happened" we drove back to the exit to leave. On our way out, Half way through marshroad We spotted a car parked on the side, it was a little black car. Who was in it? only a girl she was sitting by herself in the driver seat, i right away got freaked out, As we drove by our headlights shined into her car she was sitting there just looking straight at us, her car was off and everything could it have been broken down? there was no sign of expression or anything, if she was really in need of help or anything why didnt she make a move. My friend saw her and right away got really scared and started to speed out of there. It was very unsual because, why would anyone park there by themselves at 1 in the morning? To this day i beleive it was her

I've actually gone all the way down Marsh Road and to the bridge where i guess the girl's body was found. I was with a friend at the time and it was a sunny day. We reached the bridge we parked the car, got out and actually went under the bridge. We had to duck to go under and when we did we saw writings on the wall like witch craft symbols but anybody could of put that there to scare folks. There wasn't any water running under the bridge just dried up leaves and big rocks. I didn't experience any paranormal activity but another friend i knew thought he did with his car door not closing. He went down Marsh Road one night with a couple friends in a car and he said that he started seeing lights hoovering in the fields. He said nobody in the car saw the lights so he continued to drive down more and stopped to get out and smoke a cigarette but when he barely got to open his car door one of his friend's girlfriend started getting really scared and wanted to get out of there because she knew about what happened there. He thought he had closed the car door then as he was driving back up his door opened and he tried closing it but it wasn't closing for some reason so he tried agian and agian it wasn't closing so he continued to drive but faster and slammed the door one more good time and it closed. Everyone thought he was joking but when they got out of that area he was telling them that it was all for real and he wasn't messing around. He parked somewhere, got out to look at what was wrong with the door and if there was something that was keeping the door from closing but there was nothing. This is what my friend told me so I wouln't say its a true or not a true story but when he told me this he was freaking out about it because he never experienced anything like this.

I grew up in Milpitas in the early 80's. Marsh Road was the local "party" place. Been there many times with friends and all I can say is the final "S" turn where the small bridge goes over the "dry" creek bed is quite haunting. Even in the day I've felt vertigo and ill. There is really creepy things there at night like the lights hovering in the fields toward Calaveras reservoir (I'm sure only swamp gas) very spooky none-the-less. The bridge I mentioned is very near to where Marcy's body was found (about 30 to 50 yards to the West). The road dead-ends about 150 yards after the bridge. Actually there is a one lane road that leads to a homestead or ranch house past the normally closed gate.
I had no idea the road has been blocked by the County. It seemed to really mellow out over the years compared to the 80's. The last time I was down there (2003 or 2004) I decided to take a ride one night around 1:00 A.M. While visiting my folks who until recently lived off Piedmont and Yosemite. Needless to say that place still scared the crap outta me. It was a foggy night and as I approached the "S" curve and bridge there was something in the road. As I approached and the fog thinned there was a huge wild boar in the road barring its huge tusks. I know it was only nature, but got the hell outa there as I felt I really didn't belong there. I can continue on a couple occasions where I'm almost positive paranormal active flared up, but I'll leave it alone for now-

Reality check.

Being "black" and successful (because my parents drummed into our heads that we could be -- even after starting out dirt-poor on a small farm), I can say without doubt, people probably do not succeed because they don't work hard enough. We shall excuse those with incapacitating mental and physical challenges.

Barack Obama was not just "curiously unaffected by the odds against him!" He had George Soros and all of the others who worked hard, and will continue, to create the "perfect" president for the times. Let's see how he does.

Not an accident. And, no, I'm not a conspiracy theorist; just a realist.

Sorry benwaw58, the ONLY reason to vote for anyone is because they are the BEST candidate for the job.

Peace.

Wow, it's like I'm back in the old Journal Star graphics department!

Michael, I agree with your sentiment. There's much more excitement to getting the paper out these days with such a greatly reduced staff. We all work together much better than we ever did before, because everybody has to help out or the paper will never make it to the press.

I have a good friend who was walked out the door last week at our paper; more grieving to be done while the work keeps piling up at the same time. It's hard, real hard, to work within a newsroom these days, to see friends and colleagues walked to the door. We're all realizing, more and more, with each passing day that the privilege of working in a newsroom is not to be taken for granted. It's a gift to be cherished. None of us know how many more we will have. I have noticed that though we are fewer after 2 buyouts and 1 round of layoffs, conditions have served to bring those of us who remain, closer together and has actually strengthened our relationships because we are sharing these burdens together, encouraging one another to keep going even though it looks bad, really, really bad. Newspaper people have a special spirit and for that, I am very thankful. So let's see what's beyond the storm; it will pass as all storms do. And when the skies clear and the winds die down, there will be stories to tell. Stories that connect us, inspire us and keep us safe will need to be told, demand to be told, for they must be told. I don't know how to save newspapers, but I do know that I've been prepared to keep going through this storm with those of my brothers and sisters who still remain. We're going to get through this together.

That's all I know.
