Glad you mentioned this - I could scarcely believe it when watching a recent documentary how certain MPs - I assume and hope a minority - will mindlessly shout repeated phrases while the opposition member is speaking. It strikes me as incredibly infantile or at least witless. I saw Denis Skinner still keeps his place at the front, but of course is rarely called to speak. But at least whenever he heckles, it's entertaining.

They've clearly pumped a lot of money (and placed all their eggs) in to this particular campaign. We got this leaflet too, and it's been reported on Political Betting. Ah well.

I've just watched it back on Sky+ and, failing to believe my ears, franticly googled for confirmation. The most insanely childish thing I've ever seen - irrespective of what you think of the SNP (and I'm hardly a fan), to have paid public representatives behaving like I did in art class, particularly at a time when faith in parliamentarians is so low, is just bewildering. Hardly disproves the public perception that they're a sorry bunch of cunts.....

Ahhh ... I see. The yellow cover made me think ... just like it was meant to ... I did wonder how many fans Maggie had in Gomorrah by the Sea .. and I thought your point was that Labour had their closet Thatcher fans as well.

Quite clever. As you point out unprincipled, but I've long since stopped expecting that.

Do we have our wires crossed here? This is a New Labour leaflet I'm showing here. I've edited the post to make that clear.

Their theory seems to be, we'll find out what the punters want and give them it. It might be more palatable if it wasn't for those bloody bar charts on the leaflets.

Thankfully, in my constituency there is no Lib Dem candidate. But there is the DUP, who are entertaining in their own right.

Twas ever thus.

In the 2005 election they were handing out pics of Abu Ghraib in Muslim areas of Brum, while in Worcestershire they were leading the campaign against a housing development for asylum-seekers.

In 2009 they won a council seat in Redbridge with leaflets featuring Gaza mayhem coupled with mention of only one Labour opponent - Councillor Weinberg.

But to be fair to them, I don't think they're institutionally anti-semitic or pro-Muslim or anti-asylum. They're just giving the voters what they want, as they always try to do.
