Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are the Umbrella Community for Prison Network, a community-based organization based in Zambia under the leadership of Rev. Liveland Samson Mironde. We are working together with more than 50 pastors from different interdenominational churches across Zambia. In many parts of the country, we have pastors and church leaders working hand in hand to serve vulnerable communities.
Our mission is to support prisoners, ex-prisoners, widows, orphans, the elderly, people living with disabilities, and vulnerable children whose parents are in prison or unable to provide proper care. We work hard to bring hope, care, and encouragement to those who are suffering.
Through our ministry and community programs, we help provide:
Food support for vulnerable families
School support for orphaned and vulnerable children
Care and encouragement for prisoners and ex-prisoners
Assistance to widows, elderly people, and people with disabilities
Spiritual guidance, counseling, and community outreach
Many children in our communities are struggling because their parents are in custody or facing difficult situations. As an organization, we are committed to helping these children access education, food, healthcare, and a better future.
Therefore, we are humbly applying to your organization, church, ministry, or donor community for partnership and support. We welcome all organizations, churches, and individuals who are willing to work together with us in transforming lives and helping vulnerable communities in Zambia.
Your support, prayers, donations, and partnership will make a great difference in the lives of many people.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. We appreciate your response and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Rev. Liveland Samson Mironde

What a blessing Compassion is to the needy children of the world and to those of us whom God has given resources to, so that we can share with others. This is a beautiful and an uplifting story.

Hello, Hannah! Thank you so much for your desire to bless your sponsored child with such a thoughtful and personal gift. I am truly sorry, however, for a variety of reasons including the cost to send items through customs and the possibility of theft, we are unable to send packages to your sponsored child. I completely understand how disappointing this may be. As a sponsor myself, I would like to assure you that your sweet kiddo will be immensely blessed and encouraged by any letters that you send. We are happy to address additional questions you may have. Please send an email to socialmedia@compassion.com if we can serve you in this way.

In reply to Ainsley Hoksbergen.

Hi Ainsley, thanks for reaching out! Small notepads can’t be sent because the metal binding makes them a 3D item. Only flat, paper items that fit in an envelope are allowed. You can send letters, drawings, photos, coloring pages, Bible verses, or printable activities. Just include a handwritten note, put your sponsor and child IDs on each sheet, and send no more than six sheets per child.

If you’d like to give a gift, you can send a monetary gift through your online account. This helps support your child’s local community, and the center staff works with the family to decide how best to use it. They usually send a thank-you note back so you can hear how it was used. I hope this helps answer your question!

In reply to Sharon Fasnacht.

Hello Sharon, we appreciate your question and your desire to bless your sponsored children with stickers. As of February 1, 2026, Compassion is partnering with a specialized mail-handling team that will help us process letters and donations faster, more securely and more efficiently. As part of this partnership, Compassion will no longer physically mail flat paper gifts to the field. Instead, all letters and flat paper items (like photos, drawings and coloring pages) will be scanned, digitally sent and printed locally for your sponsored child. This means items that can’t be scanned, like stickers, can no longer be sent. This change allows us to steward supporter donations wisely and keep up with the growth of our ministry so we can serve more local churches and children around the world.

There are still other fun ways to bless your kiddos! Along with your letters, you can still send flat, scannable paper items like: drawings, photos and photo collages, coloring pages, postcards, printable paper crafts, activities like printable mazes or games, illustrated Bible verses, and more. As usual, please write your sponsor and child ID on each piece. Remember to keep items under 8.5x11 inches and only send up to six sheets of paper at a time. Our letter-writing FAQs are a great resource, and please email our team at SocialMedia@Compassion.com if you have any questions. Have a blessed day!

If the people who lived before there was a "bible," or didn't hear Jesus' word (other than word of mouth of what He can do), didn't have the so called faith other than to say to Him they believe (due to what they heard in the grapevine) (no pun intended), why did Jesus heal people left and right but not today?
We are expected to have this "severe" faith and still no results. I don't have the luxury of His physical person in my living room so I can ask Him to his face. So since most people are not being healed, it makes you wonder or question. I don't doubt, I just don't understand.
Of the people who have podcasts and say God healed them, are they more righteous than me? I doubt it.

Thanks for sharing your journey and how God walked you through this difficult time.
I love that you took something you enjoy and God used it for his glory !!
Thanks for the Recipe too .

When we lost our daughter 10 yrs ago, some dear friends brought us dinner which was rice with peanuts that tasted yummy and I had never seen that combination of food together . I loved it - and it was so comforting .

Hi Hunter! Thank you for your question. Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world! It is home to a tropical coastline, Andean highlands and volcanoes, a portion of the Amazonian jungle, and the breathtaking Galapagos Islands. Ecuador straddles the equatorial line in South America and, due to the high elevation of the mountains, is the closest country to the sun!

Greetings to All,
Just this morning, after spending some time in prayer, I felt a little disconnected from Spirit. But I knew this is temporary because it is. I went on the Compassion app and watched Jameis Winston and his wife visit a Compassion center and village and the tears began to flow and unblocked my heart and soul. Beautiful people connecting with joy and love...nothing better.

I have sponsored children through Compassion for over 25 years. It has been my honor to partner with so many good folks!! Keep the Faith!

Hello, Erika! Thank you very much for sharing your feedback, and I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling disillusioned by your sponsorship. I hear your concern and frustration, and I apologize for any confusion regarding sponsorship funds. I want to assure you that your sweet girl is directly benefiting from your generosity through a variety of ways including meals and snacks when she attends her program as well as medical, educational and spiritual help. One great way to learn more about how she is specifically benefiting from your sponsorship, is through letters. We encourage you to ask questions about her time at her Compassion program and her day to day life. I hope this helps, and feel free to email us at socialmedia@compassion.com if you have additional questions or concerns.

Ugh, after reading all these comments I’m now hoping not to regret my commitment to this organization. We are led to believe that our monthly donation will directly benefit the child we are “sponsoring.” I’m starting to see now that the child we select is no more than a pawn.

Now that she knows I’m sponsoring her, however, how could I possibly pull back? Manipulation at its finest.

Had CI said, “Your gift will help us provide needs to all in poverty, and in exchange you can connect with one of the children your money is helping,” that would have been different.

But we are all led to believe that our money goes straight to the child.

I feel very disillusioned.

I have been sending extra money for gifts but when the child tells me how much they received it is less than what I gave. The beginning of the year I gave $100 and she only spent $25 and just recently I gave $250 and they only received $96. Why aren't they receiving the full amount for a gift. I understand the monthly fee is used for marketing and other things but when I specifically give to my child and her family they should be receiving all of it. I never gave anyone permission to use the gift for anything else.

Hi Jean, thank you for your question! Compassion is committed to investing the majority of gifts received into front-line ministry for children in poverty; this means 90 percent of your gift will go directly to your sponsored child’s family. The remaining small percentage is used exclusively for administration costs including gift wiring, tracking, delivery, transportation, receipting, and acknowledgement that the gift was received. The child and family, with the assistance of church staff, will purchase what they need most. This also benefits the local economy of your sponsored child by supporting local businesses. You are welcome to email us at SocialMedia@Compassion.com if you have further questions. Have a blessed day!

We’ve been sponsoring a boy for a number of years. At first, he always told us what he got with special gifts. That stopped. We started asking him what he got. This last time, he never answered the question. I think it’s because he never got our letter telling him how much we sent. We’ve complained numerous times to Compassion that this particular center appears to have a problem with gifts not ending up with the intended recipient, but they refuse to do anything about it. It’s virtually certain that we are not the only ones with this complaint. C’mon, Compassion! When your sponsors are telling you about problems, get up and go look!

In reply to Rose Brown.

Hi Rose! Thank you for your question. All Christmas donations are combined and then divided evenly among every child in our program. We typically suggest that sponsors give an amount of $25 per child, if they are able. With this fund, we purchase a meaningful gift specifically for each child and help purchase gifts for children who are not yet sponsored, or whose sponsors are not able to give. We do this because we want every child to receive a gift and to be included in a special Christmas celebration at their church-based center.

If you would prefer to have your donation go directly to your child, we are able to move your donation to a general gift for your child. Please do understand that even if we do this, your child will still receive a gift from the Christmas fund and in turn would get two gifts. Thank you for your understanding!

It’s great to hear that kids are experiencing exciting visits from people outside of their local Compassion Center, but our family really wishes that Compassion would reopen the opportunity for us to visit our child as well. We’ve visited two of our children in the past, and it was such a special time to meet them and their families. We’ve returned to the country several times since but saddened when we found out that Compassion closed the opportunity for sponsors to visit. Visits was one of the reasons we chose to sponsor through Compassion originally.
