Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. The elderly couple touched my heart as you have touched mine with your loving comments.

Over the past few days, I've heard many conversations. People seem to be so intent on completing whatever it is they're trying to purchase these days. Yet, we have in front of us one of the most wonderful gifts of all.

I have a friend who is 87 who shared with me that the best gift we can give is our presence rather than presents. In the age of texting and e-mailing, we lose that face-to-face, heart-felt conversation. I'm praying it doesn't become a lost means of communication.

There is beauty in capturing a moment like you did with that elderly couple. Wouldn't it be wonderful to all have one like it.

Thanks for sharing and reminding that we take time to be in the moment.

Hi Peggy,

Thank you for sharing this story of the older couple. It helps me appreciate one of my blessings. My fiance and I do have heart-felt, in the moment, conversations on occasion. It is easy to block out everything and everyone around us. I doubt that anyone has this type of conversation everyday. I pray that we continue to have them into our 80s.

This older couple story makes me sort of sad, because it is so rare, thankfully there is more to life than couples, because, we, I do have fun animated conversations with a few friends including you. Which are much more fulfilling than any with my son's father. But better than some women who put up with abusive convervsations, or worse. I always wished there were classes in early grades teaching all of us to relate & converse with more respect, courteousy ,& all the more positive ways to communicate. we desperately need this early in life so we could all have better comminication with each other! What happen to teaching respect, manners & courteousy? Not even in a religious way just as a matter of decency!Civility, more positive, lasting relations could result! Sincerely, Lesley
