A couple of the replies to this make sense... A couple of them talk out of their arse. Why? Yes you don't need two Codex's. Neither do you need to envy others models, painting ain't hard if you've got the right brushes, the right paints and the right equipment. Plus everyone's right saying that chance adds to the fun of the game (I'm not even going to explain that, it's so obvious why chance is important). But the main point that I totally disagree with is the people saying it doesn't cost a lot. Yes it does! My God, £35 for a rulebook! Common, anyone with a bit of common sense knows that's a stupid price to pay for a couple of rules, stories and fancy pictures of fantasy (non-existent) beings. Not to mention the price of miniatures, what is it, like £25 for one guy, just because he has a bigger, shinier axe than the sergeant in your tactical squad.
Oh yeah, there's one extra point that I don't think this guy mentioned. Please reply if you know how I can do something about this, but I have no-one to play against since my friends stopped earlier this year...
Anyway, I love Warhammer 40k but there are some obvious disadvantages, just like most games, there's always going to be a problem.

Actually I've tried the demo Character Builder and built more than "a few" characters . . . I'm building 16 characters (one from each power source as well as archetype to the extent possible.) Have 5 to go, done 4 from martial 4 from arcane and 3 from primal. And I have made a "trickster" character as well that would be sort of like what Geoff describes. And utility spells will also do some of that. So it's really not as bad as Geoff says IMHO, just more straightforward.

Well all I know about D&D is what I've read in the demo version of the Character Builder and the Quick Start Rules (will have to wait about 3 weeks before I have money to spend) but I would think the priest would lean towards option number two considering what I know about Pelor. For one there is what Emperor says, it would probably be better for the criminals and Pelor teaches to show mercy and compassion. Though there is Luke's idea - Mr. S would probably see that he is on the losing end and send the PCs to their doom, in the process ingratiating himself with the Red Company.
