That use of apply was a mistake caused by writing the original draft for this article on a phone. Bloody auto-incorrect! I wasn't familiar with the set flags, but yes, having looked them up that makes a lot of sense. As for the &> shortcut I was aware of that but for some reason I keep finding myself using the long form regardless. Old habits I guess :) Thanks Ralph, I'll amend the script accordingly.

Nice write-up, though I stumbled where you nouned apply! My brain is wired to know that word has one meaning and sound. Perhaps ‘appli’, if not ‘app’? On the bash you may like to know &> does the job of > followed by 2>&1, e.g. &>/dev/null, and ‘set -eu’ is always handy at the start of a bash script, e.g. curl(1) fails, though you’d expect the kill(1) to fail; kill $PID &>/dev/null || true.

Taking my theory in a weeks time, not looking forward to it. 55 questions… and I can only get 5 wrong. Not going to be much fun. So, I’m going to probably have to spend the next few days really cramming for it. I’m hoping i’ll pass, it’ll encourage me to see the whole thing through to the end. Sorry things havnt been too great for you. Things will pick up though, they always do. eventually.

Oh for the love of GOD!! I cannot believe we live in the year 2011 and Microsoft still can’t get it right!! Who the -ell wants to pay this much for a new pc and not be able to install games from xp. I for the life of me just don’t get it. What year is Microsoft living in? Window 7 is nothing but a piece of crap that sits here with me having to hunt and dig for stuff that should be easy to find. Don’t even go to ‘Windows xp mode” that is not for the every day common people but for businesses only! What a piece of crap! JMO

Well you’ll have me cheering you on! And giving you random weird suggestions for scenes. I too am having trouble plotting too much of my novel, no real clear outline although I know the major plot arc from beginning to end. I plan to just see what happens.

I hope you find the time to write it, Crowd Dodging is such a neat concept!

I could not agree more with the sentiment that social networking is bullshit..

Have you seen or even noticed how Google’s marketing campaign for there new social networking plus service is to draw little circles around the word you?

Then direct you to it with crayon colors!?

Firstly I for one protest at the very concept, your not running rings around me!

Secondly has the whole world gone social networking mad?

F*** social networking! Google Plus is the same as facebook & twitter, Simply Bovine Excrement where the masses can gather and stroke their ego by posting rubbish that is of no interest to any body, epic titles like “I slept with Maria’s Sister!” etc

Who the hell gives a flying rat fuck, just because I may have met you does not mean I want to instantly be added to your social networking circle, it seems a very sad statement of affairs if our social interaction as a species is that we simply Join mass media groups and start posting our most personal and intimate thoughts to be mind raped!

I have no problem with Social Media, I am using this blog as a social outlet to vent my pent up frustrations with little or no problem, yes come read it, I could care less…

If I want to socialize I send someone an encrypted email or pick up a telephone and go meet them for a night out, thats what having REAL friends is all about.
