We have a lot in common when it comes migrant labour laws here in South Africa , in which in 2008 May caused xenophobic attacks because locals were saying migrants are taking thier jobs . We have organised our self here in South Africa as migrants ,with three commitees in two different cities ( Johannesburg and Pretoria )with a membership of about 3000 form sub saharan countries mostly .
My wish will be that if we start to pay solidality with you in Italy it will be great

Yours

This is a great article. As a lesbian parent I think there should be more books out there that deal with these issue's. I have a copy of "King and King" and I will certainly go back and re-read it after reading this article.

Just wanted to say that this is a great piece, Dervla :) I really enjoyed the nuanced nature of your analysis and hope that parents/authors/communities take heed of your findings. I have been tinkering around the edges of critiquing similar books (as a white gay parent myself) and really do hope that it results in books that actually do a better job of representing queer families, as well as of course exploring the whiteness of mainstream queer parenting. Some of my stuff has appeared previously in darkmatter (touching on similar issues of adoption, queerness, and whiteness), and another paper specifically on race, sexuality and these books has appeared in journal of GLBT family studies (http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~db=all~content=a902832783~frm=titlelink). I look forward to reading more of your work in the future :)

PLoS ONE certainly is impressive. Though from my understanding, it uses a TOPAZ framework http://www.plos.org/about/faq.html#topaz

I haven't looked into it much, but it appears far more complex to deploy than Wordpress or Drupal. From the perspective of limited/non-funded journals, a PHP based platform is appealing as server hosting is relatively cheap.
