I have exactly the same problem, so I have just ordered the replacement capacitors and look forward to fitting one and fixing the problem. In expectation that it will be successful, I thank you very much for your expertise and making it available to the lay public.

A lot has happened in the Operating System world since your letter. We have an exploding Linux user base as a result of Ubuntu, we have iOS with the iPad and iPhone not to mention Android. Microsoft needs that full MS Office suite to hold people hostage to it's Operating System. They know that if they released Office for Linux, their OS market share would dry up to 15% especially in the enterprise market who are all using Linux based server systems anyways. MS Office and the huge amount of high quality office type software is the only reason people still use Windows. Companies develop accessory applications for Windows because they know that the MS Office user-base is there in Windows still, if those users jumped to Linux nobody would want to develop Windows apps anymore.

I realise it's one year on, but if WizandJohn or anyone else are still trying to figure this out, it's on Page 41 of the manual, the Partial Delete option, in the menu when you click 'Option' on a Direct Navigator item.

Cheers, it was programmed in VB.NET. It won't convert to MP3, as that would require re-encoding the audio, which would degrade the quality further. This application is designed to extract the AAC audio stream out of the file, and pack it in its own file with an M4A extension. Most media players will play them (with the exception of Windows Media Player, unless the appropriate codec is installed), and is the same file type iTunes defualts to when it extracts music from CDs, hence making it ideal for extracting audio for listening to on an iPod.

Ah, you got me. Strangely enough, none of my actual facebook friends wanted their accounts hacked into for the purpose of this article. But the process for hacking any account using unsecured facebook connections on compromised Wi-Fi accounts is essentially the same. Like I said before, public Wi-Fi and WEP encrypted networks are especially at risk, but WPA2 networks aren't immune if someone knows how to connect.
