Yes, as one 40 year old to another, transitions are part of life – that was what I liked about the video (even though it was long. I don’t usually embed 7 minute long videos). Changes continue to that last big change, I guess. Was thinking – in 5 years, Jenny will be 17 and heading into her senior year in high school. Talk about transitions!!!

Changes are difficult, no doubt about that, but necessary and often good. It is nice to move out of the diaper phase, but then as my mom keeps reminding me, there is always a next phase! I wager she still thinks of me as going through them, even though I am 40 now!

CS Lewis spoke about the cyclical nature of life, and that in spite of it we are always surprised by cycles. Everyone feels like an idiot in an economic crunch, and a genius in times of plenty. I think that’s what quotes like this (and a sense of humor) do – they help keep the emotion out of reacting to cycles, and keep me focused on what I need to do. :)

Well, my switch from AR outside blog to WP is complete, thanks to your help Diane. I NEVER understood the point system at AR or why anyone would care about them. Can the points pay my mortgage? I think agents need to realize that AR is great for networking and sharing with peers, but if you want to reach consumers you need to control your content and make sure that said content is pertinent to the consumer.

I will have to say that the reason I like having a self-hosted WordPress blog is because of my issue with control. I do also have a posterous account, in addition to my AR account, but have serious trust issues with any third party system. In other words, no matter what it was, I would have a plan B because you never know when the rules are going to change.

Once again I get my real estate scoop from the smiling girl in Mass. great points Di, especially about things we create being personal. It’s been my experience that when someone tells you that something is “just business” it means they’re about to do something unpleasant to you , and they need to distance themselves first.

For me the issue is control. Always has been, always will be. Well, that and ROI – I am always looking for the most bang for my buck. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone tried to sell me something saying, “Just one closing will pay for the [whatever it is].” Me, I am always the one on the “Free” side of a Freemium offering.

But I also understand companies trying to stay afloat. I was researching newly formed companies the other day, and it is amazing how many go under in a few years.

I can’t imagine how you would fulfill the obligation to disclose that a house is haunted — meaning, how would you know? I guess I’m asking…”Who you gonna call?”

What if you think it’s haunted and the buyer wants a haunted house, then finds that after they move in that there really aren’t ghosts in there? I wonder if there have been lawsuits claiming fraud when that has happened…?

I didn’t see it come through, so thanks for reposting.

Pain and suffering are real, and shouting at a mirror won’t change that – agreed. Good times are temporary as well, and if you pin where you are internally on external factors you will be in for a roller-coaster ride.

I find that I have a tendency to board that roller coaster. If I don’t hold myself in check I find that my emotions go all over the place.

This video posting was not meant to suggest that as a country we are not truly going through a hard time.

While I agree there is great power in positive thinking, I also know that pain and suffering are real and nothing to be ashamed of. When I am suffering, whether mentally, emotionally, or physically, I try to accept it for what it is and go with the flow. Afterall, like everything else, it’s temporary. This too shall pass.

Knowing Peter’s mom as I do, I am certain that he has already ascribed to the substance over style argument (even if he won’t admit it for years). I was raised that way and am still so frugal about so many things that people probably think I am a bit nutty. Love when you share your smarts on us Di!
