Proto:87 is what Freemo has been missing. Actually, reading the standard, I'm not sure Proto:87 would be "illegal" in a Freemo module, as there is no requirement for Kadee couplers (ergo, we are free to use Sergent couplers), RP-25 wheels (thus, we are free to use Proto:87 wheels), or prohibiting NMRA S-3.1 standard (Proto:87 or Fine:HO) trackwork!

Doing so and showing up at a Freemo event would be anarchy (or, at least, unwelcome) I am sure, but technically, until those standards are adopted as part of Freemo, I don't see anything prohibiting a Proto:87 Freemo layout.

I don't know, Johannes; if you look at what you can buy for $300 and what you could buy for $300 back in 1980 (as I remember 1980 in any case), apart from the fact that today's model is mostly plastic, you're getting much more for your money today than you were 31 years ago.

Also, while model trains have a reputation for expense, I'd disagree with this as well. I get hours and hours of enjoyment out of a little stack of plastic, some solvent and a knife. I can't think of any other past-time that can be so economical. Ask my race car-driving brother in law. He'll tell you about an expensive hobby!

I attended this execellent arrangement as well. Being one of the members from Norway, I am glad you found our modules worth to be illustrated on your blog. But if you want your combination of places and countires to be correct, you have to look at picture number 3 and 4: Thorshaug is in Norway (not Sweden), steinhorst is in Denmark (not Norway).
