For the trail I recently got a pair of New Balance MT100's that I'm really enjoying (ran my first trail marathon in those), trying to cycle those with some super cheap Asics I picked up at Marshalls (did my first 30k race in those), my old high school cross country flats and some Salomons my wife convinced me to get for hiking.

I'm less likely to pick my trail shoes based on conditions than I am to pick a shoe I simply haven't worn in a while. That being said, on the road I tend to wear flats at the track, nike free's on daily runs and some lightweight asics trainers on longer road runs.

Now if only I could help my wife understand this so she wouldn't give me so much grief on all my running shoes!

Right now I only have 3 different models of trails shoes (Inov-8 Flyrocs, Montrail - forget the model name - and Brooks ASR). The Montrails are more heavy duty, the Inov-8's light and nimble, and the ASR's my go to shoes when I'm running part road, part trail. I really want to try out the Brooks Cascadia's so I'll soon have 4 pairs of trail shoes.

I also have 3 pairs of road shoes but they're all the same model (Brooks Adrenalines). I'm definitely more of a trail shoe junkie!

Mostly, I wear Inov-8 Roclite 315s as my trail shoe of choice. I currently have 4 pairs in rotation, although 1 pair needs to be tossed. My original pair that's still going strong (but doesn't have much tread left) has about 700 miles on them, my second pair fell apart after about 150 miles, and I have 2 new pairs this winter that I used to compare sheet metal screws to ice spikes.

For trail running, I also have an old pair of North Face trail shoes that I don't really like and need to be recycled and a pair of Vibram 5-Fingers that will probably start seeing more use now that it's warming up. And, I will also head out barefoot depending upon the trail conditions.

For the roads, I have a lot of different types of shoes, but mostly just run in my racing flats, the Vibrams or barefoot.

I've yet to run a trail race over 50k or a road race over 50 miles so I'm not sure how well they'll hold up for longer races.

I wonder if the studios have no interest or just aren't aware of the stories playing out in endurance sports?

It is odd you wouldn't have more snow in your part of the country.

We actually had a foot of snow a month or so ago...crazy for TX...but I never did go for a run in it.

Great film...the only problem is that there haven't been many more non-documentary mass market running movies since.

That video makes me jealous...

We usually have snow like that this time of year here in southern Maine.

Not this year though...it snowed while I was doing my 1 More Mile for Sunshine fund raiser, and since then we haven't gotten any accumulation (but record rain fall) and all the snow has now disappeared, just about.
