“England had taken over the game and I think they were killed by their impatience,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.

“What made me sad was that, with the experience they had, they were caught. It was free-kick for England, goal for Germany.

“You do what they did with five minutes to go OK but not with 25 minutes left.”

I stood in the pub full of sweaty excited Englishmen and the belief was palpable that we could take the game.
And then it all went horribly wrong.

disagree with notion that england’s shortcomings were down to the manager. also, the last point about jon terry i rebuke strongly. if anyone or anything was to blame for the team’s lack of unity, it was jon terry and his arrogant, ignorant and over-important attempt at causing a mutiny. it back-fired spectacularly and terry was woeful against germany. capello is not to blame, the players and their lack of judgement, character and composure are.
