Try starting xmbc in debug mode and check the logs to see what’s going on. If you are running xbmc from gdm it should be setting you up under a local session so it should be working. The debug log tho should clarify what’s going on.

I have a weird one.. Running on stable Karmic-64, with GDM.. Under stock configuration, it will suspend when I press the power button on the remote, but it won’t resume. When I edited rc.local (the only difference being was that my remote is on USB2), rebooted and tried to suspend from within xbmc it wouldn’t suspend at all, so waking up is a moot point. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated

Any further help, this tar.gz is not working, or valid.

Is there someone that has the files? arent they on the plugin website of freevo?

Is there other shoutcast freevo alternative for us?

Basically trial and error. I’m sure you could be more precise if you ran lsusb with the verbose flag (-v) and sifted through that output, but in this case I tried the first one and it worked so I didn’t dig any further.

Can you explain how you made the leap from:

“Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1784:0008 TopSeed Technology Corp.” to knowing which USB to enable?

USB1 S3 enabled pci:0000:00:04.0
USBB S3 disabled pci:0000:00:04.1

How do you know your remote receiver is not USBB?

I couldn’t possibly agree with you more. I’d love to migrate more of our databases from MySQL to PostgreSQL, but replication IS THE ONLY BARRIER.

The community really needs to embrace just how important this is to success and hit this one out of the park.

It needs to be:

1. Easy to use
2. Stable
3. Easy to use
4. Support the creation of hot slaves without much work. (think old load data from master) I KNOW this is hard, but not half as hard as 5m ppl who use the database manually setting up replication over and over and over and over and over. It seems like I spent half my career babysitting a new replicant while my SQL Server admin colleage is at lunch while hers finishes.
5. Easy to use
6. Flexible, but not overly so. Perhaps just slighly smarter than MySQL replication would do. Were not looking to solve world hunger. Just give us options to replicate whole databases, select tables, etc in sets or individually.
7. And if it’s not easy to use then start over.

I LOVE PostgreSQL and the wonderful community. It’s just a shame I can’t use it more.

I’m afraid I don’t know… You may want to try using the .is_audio_player file (http://live.gnome.org/Rhythmbox/FAQ) instead, or see if there’s some hints in the hal spec (http://people.freedesktop.org/~david/hal-spec/hal-spec.html). I do wish tho that Banshee would add transcode support for videos as well.
