The problem is not direct payments to Serious Materials (which no one is alleging anyway), but the impropriety of someone with a large financial interest in a particular segment of an industry being able to influence how funds are directed.

All companies try to gain competitive advantage by political means via donations and other lobbying; we need politicians and bureaucrats that are resistant to that pressure. In Cathy Zoi's case, both her husband's career and her balance sheet make her that much more susceptible to the pressure. She will recuse herself from decisions regarding Serious Materials and Landis+Gyr specifically, but she will be able to influence policy to direct more funds to the markets ... energy saving windows and smart meters ... that will directly benefit her.

She should either divest herself of her husband and stock, or choose another job. This is not "change" we can believe in.

If you look into the Serious story, there's not much of a story. Just clearly BAD reporting of behalf of John Stossel who can't find nor report on a WHOLE story. Love how the people pushing this so called "cronyism" happen to be the folks behind almost all other major window companies in the US - who probably hate Serious Materials for the attention they are getting. Do me a favor - don't be a blind follower - do your own research. Facts are out there. http://blog.seriousmaterials.com/?p=1007

This is one of those aha! moments. It seems that not only will WordPress pingback a blog entry that you link to within a post, but it’s intelligent enough to find the most recent entry within a category you link to and pingback that entry.i really like the post cheers:)
