QR-like codes will be a major marketing and communication tool within retail in the very near future. Saying that they are obsolete is as ridiculous as stating that “talking boxes” (READ: radio) will never be an effective medium for advertisers. Because your statement will live forever, my prediction is that this blog will be obsolete before QR codes.

Dear Gaetan,

Thanks for sharing some valuable ideas. Would like to know, if there is any way in which we can promote a .com domain hosted in US on google.co.uk and get it listed for pages from UK. Currently, I get the site on results on google.co.uk, but not when I query it using pages from UK.

Please note, the site is mainly for UK and gets maximum visitors from UK only. Will look forward to your comments.

All I have to say I love it when my clients main competitors sites are flash! All you wizz bang designers out there, keep using flash… please. Believe every word the Google and Adobe tells you.

You could (still can but there’s no more SEO value now) choose the anchor text with that tip.
Where did you read that you had to have “tinyurl” as the anchor text?

why would i want a link to my site that has tinyurl as the anchor text. very little seo value here.

Well, I have to disagree with you.
Even if it’s not yet perfect, it’s already really good.
Google crawl the flash files and will execute all the different action a user could do on a swf…

You are saying “People tend to link to HTML content because they can get a direct URL to the page they want, therefore passing link juice that Google loves. Most of the time, you can’t get a direct link to the content you’re interested in with a flash website and don’t link to it.”.

Well, there is method to implement deep linking in flash. So there are ways to access directly to the content you are interested. The main problem is this demands extra work that not everybody is willing to do.

So I won’t say flash is not SEO friendly. I would say bad flash dev are not SEO friendly :)
