I’m curious aswell. On my old computer (FF v3.5.9) new tabs comes up after current tab. Well, tbh, starting a new tab by CTRL+T:isch brings up the new tab as the last one eitherways. But say I CTRL-click a link (shortcut for “open in new tab”), this behaviour is different from my old computer (mentioned above) and my girlfriend’s computer (FF v3.6.3). On my old computer, these tabs bump up last, whereas on gf’s computer they come next to current tab. Has Firefox changed default behavior?

My tabs open next to the active tab, and I have not added either of these addons. There must be something else within Firefox which does this. I looked at my about:config and compared it with my son’s PC where his does not have this behavior, and don’t see anything for sure that would change the behavior. Very confusing.

With the newer version FF, try the following:

1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn.
* The about:config “This might void your warranty!” warning page may appear. Click I’ll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
2. Search for the preference browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent.
3. Double-click on browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent, which should set the value to false.

If you ever want to change it back, repeat the steps above, which will toggle the value back to true.
