The 'well formed' geometric pattern is just like the edging on some cheap melamine plates and bowls I bought from Wilkos this spring!

I'm super into my geometric prints at the moment. Shame I missed this competition :( Boo.

Maybe you will run another? :)

I think that 'style' is definitely the best way to differentiate yourself yes, unfortunately you can become trapped in your own style though - clients see the style in your portfolio and want it, and you find yourself always creating in that particular style.

It becomes a vicious circle - a good one in terms of marketing, but a circle non the less.

From a marketing perspective it's great to find a niche style and market as a freelancer, but it can become a bit stifling to not be able to break very far outside of your style box for many of your projects.

That's why doing your own personal projects on top of your freelance paid work is always a good idea - to develop new skills and styles should you ever need to break them out the box from time to time!

I totally agree, as a freelance designer most of my clients come to me for my unique style of digital art. I have also found that more experience in the industry you have, the better. As for the Price this is 100% true, if you are too cheap people will expect the world of you for a fraction of the cost.

For a designer, it is very important to apply his/her own style because it makes him different from those who are big designers but don't have their own style.
