Nothing against Kimber….however stats should be a HUGE Factor! POLITICS! Come on now!!!!Dudley is not a below average team; I do believe they faired well this year! And It’s not playoffs; it’s season records that matter! That would be Baseball 101!

Kimber is the best pitcher in the conference. Throws harder, hits his spots more consistently, and had a record that was about equal to Newton’s on a team that is below average. Newton is good, but Corey is one of a kind. He threw a two hitter in the second round of playoffs off 3 days rest…. come on now

* has a valid point. 3 guys that come to mind very fast are Brandon Riley (Williams), Daniel Kennedy (Western Alamance), and Lucas Martin (McMichael). Watched these guys all year long and they absolutely tore it up with the bats. No doubt of the fact that both Monroe and Huffman can bring it with their arms and their bats as well. As Mid State proved to be very tough with a large amount of pitching talent this year, it would seem that the hitters (and I know there is more than just these 3 that had a great year) should stand tall for their efforts against such oustanding competition.

I am not sure what has happened with Coach Simmons, but I am really going to miss watching him coach at the way he fills out the back of those pants!!!

Let’s hear some constructive ideas….We don’t need and to get abusive and when we have current people employed, we need to let them do their job….I mean people are people and they deserve and have the right to do their job and they have families that read this site and look at all this stuff….We are talking mom, dad and kids, so don’t go over the edge…Would be good to keep the forum open and remember this is different than a college situation, all of you and us go to the schools and see the people you are talking about here….The right decisions will be made, and if it doesn’t work out, they will have to make some more decisions….We are doing that here every day….Again, think before you ink……

A good one and tell the guy down at the TV station, you heard it here first, “Think Before You Ink” or in the case of the computer, before you link too….”Think before you Ink and Link”………

Coach A’s departure from Grimsley had absolutely nothing to do with parents, playing time or anything that happened between the lines so that rationale is way off-base. That was blog fodder 4 years ago and and still is today. Simmons is a fine person and coached to the best of his ability. He cared about the players as students and as adults. He will do fine in whatever direction he chooses, academically or athletically.

Darren Corbett spent the last 10 years at Grimsley and finally got his dream job at A&T. He is a tremendous treacher both in the classroom and on the court. There is nothing wrong at Grimsley, only people living their lives. People outside of the education business change job positions every day, high school in general is no different and Grimsley is no different. Case Closed.

Grimsley has been a transitional school for the past 4-5 years with a lot of coaches, teachers and students coming and going….They have to find some stablity and Coach Simmons is a fine young teacher/coach that works hard and he will do well in whatever role he ends up taking in the athletic department…This has not been an easy ride for former coach and AD Lewis Newman….He has stayed with it and hung in and remained on course for what he is trying to do, but with all the changes and transition it is not easy…Alan Ashkinazy would do a very good job coaching any team he is in charge of….Very competitive and he has never lost the drive, I just don’t see it happening again for him at Grimsley….Maybe a Greensboro Day or at another private school…..Alan needs some room to do what he needs to do, but I can’t speak for him, he can do that for himself….Just ask Brian Butterfield I think it was back in the days when Alan and Bill Wardle used to do baseball games together on the radio….Alan comes ready or he will get ready in a hurry….On Coach Simmons, Coach Knapp at Burlington Williams spoke very highly of Coach Simmons and I trust the word of Coach Knapp….Grimsley will proabably have to hire a teacher/coach that works or teaches at Grimsley and just out of the blue as in a Grimsley Blue, what about Coach Shumate….He has a very strong resume and knows the field……He helped out there this year and already has a leg up at first……

I can only speak to baseball. Several years ago a bunch of parents got together and went to the administration complaining about little Johnny not getting enough playing time and it cost Coach Ash his job. That was a “bs” decision by the administration. Then the same admininstration brings in Coach Simmons who was more about the “facilities” than winning and now they let him go. The administration at Grimsley will tell you “straight out” that they don’t care about winning so why did they let Coach Simmons go? He was a fine person.

The administration should let whoever is the coach “coach” and they should stick to “administrating”.

My suggestion would be to either bring back Coach Ash or maybe Justin Smith(ex-Northern) and let Grimsley again become competitive in baseball.

Andy has been busy….

DJ got nominated for the team by his coach and then the other conference coaches voted him in….You can’t blame that on DJ so who is at fault there??? For the games that DJ played in Grimsley probably won half of those and they had their most successful stage of the year when he came back…Grimsley even made a run for the Conference Tournament Title when he came back…Ended up in the semis vs. SEG and led early in the game….If DJ would have been able to pitch, Grimsley would have had a very good chance to win that game vs. SEG…But he had already pitched two days earlier vs. WG and the Whirlies defeated the favored Hornets with DJ on the mound….The Big Man had a huge impact on his Whirlies even if was only around for limited games this season….When wasn’t playing Grimsley wasn’t winning and when he came back Grimsley started winning…I have always been a big supporter of the Big Man and if Grimsley is slotted to get two players on the first team, and he gets nominated and the other coaches vote him in….He’s in…I’m sure that Grimsley could nominate more than one man, but the two the conference coaches voted in were DJ and Shumate and it is as simple as that….If he has that much influence over the other conference coaches more power to him…He must have got their attention somewhere over the years…..I don’t think DJ took anybody’s spot from the other teams, if anything he was given a Grimsley slot and I doubt if there are many Grimsley players that are all that upset over this….Most have found it is a good time to move on, the season is over and it was over at SEG 3-4 weeks ago….

If you get left off of a All-Conference team, then it is a good time to get back to work and keep playing and prove the people wrong who left you off the list…..I have known kids like DJ, Seth O’Fallon and Ryan Stoneman for many years, the Grimsley kids and they are all good kids and they come from good families….I remember DJ when he was in 9th grade and just coming in to Grimsley and the same for Stoneman, I remember the day he arrived on the Grimsley campus and joined the football team…I remember Seth when he was probably 6-7 years old playing basketball with his dad Kenny, down at the basketball courts…..

These are all good kids and I can see all of them doing good things later in life….They will make mistakes, they all do, but they will keep bouncing back and do well…..DJ is an impact player and he will make an Impact anywhere he goes…I don’t see him coming home fron Clemson without a degree and he will remember those that supported him over the years, he is that type of kid and a strong-minded young man….

Good luck to all of the kids on this team and you need to support them, they have given all us something to talk about over the last 3-4 years…

Thanks and good job Metro 4-A All-Conference team members…..Remember make or no-make the team, if you want to keep on playing it is time to get to work…..If you don’t you are going to be sitting around wondering like so many of us on here, what might have been…..

Very well said, I know for me personally would love to see the best 2 out of 3 starting in the 2nd round. I can remember when I was a senior in high school we beat a team 3 times (they were in our conf) …. games were not even close …. they got hot in the playoffs and we made a few errors and they beat us in the 4th rd 2-1. My point is this, I know anyone can beat any team on a given night, but a 3 game series changes everything. Would love to see it, but we never will. Good luck to EF, hope they can bring the title home to the piedmont area.
