Great video! Although the four stick thing adds a little to the difficulty of playing this, I think the real challenge is to play that sticking with the same feel as Steve Gadd does! The same with the fifty ways thing. I worked that out and posted a little lesson on youtube about it, but the real difficulty is making it feel right. As you say, there is only probably My Gadd himself who can play it so beautifully!

The amount of drums a drummer uses has absolutely no bearing on their talent. In fact I think some not so good drummers hide behind (in more ways than one!) a bigger kit to make up for their shortcomings. I am a drummer myself, and own three kits. Two of them are small four piece (two toms), and the other is a bigger setup - six piece (four toms). With the two smaller kits, I tend to use less cymbals too. The kit I choose to use depends on the job I'm doing. For instance, if I'm doing a jazz gig, I'm unlikely to need a big setup, and a small four piece kit fits the bill perfectly. A rock gig would suit the bigger kit. I think if you sat Gavin Harrison behind a kit similar to your friend Domenic's kit, he would still be able to blow you away with his skills. I think you're right though, non musicians probably think that a bigger kit is harder to play than a small one when the opposite is probably more true. By the way, nice playing Domenic!

Doug! Clearlight has re-united!!! They have been jamming and writing new songs. I imagine they would be very excited if you happened to find any of that old footage. If you search you tube you will find some new videos of them. :) I hear they may be playing a festival this summer too..

Great post I believe playing the guitar is a great pastime and can be both very relaxing and also a great way to meet new people with a shared interest.
