You're correct, weedsforwildlife. I finally got a proper picture in a subsequent visit to the bog:

As a Vancouverite, I've taken several visitors through Lynn Valley myself as it's one of my favourite places to explore. I'm glad to hear you liked visiting the city....perhaps you'll can visit again sometime.

The mosses that grow here are quite beautiful. I've often thought about creating a terrarium of sorts using different types of local mosses but I haven't ever gotten around to trying it out. I think you may have just pushed me over the edge with that moss closeup photo.

Gorgeous rainbows! Seeing the Appistos you work with and the F1 angels I'm wondering if you do anything to your water. If so what are the parameters these rainbows kept in?

Thanks Ampbreia! There are plenty of aquatic grasses that can be grown in the aquarium. This aquarium was just a testing ground for me, so I never added any fish. It's not currently setup any longer...

This is so beautiful! Who knew you could grow grass in an acquarium? Well, you did, obviously, but this is the first time it's ever crossed my mind. It should have. Lord knows I'm always landscaping the terrarium for my lizards and amphibians. How wonderful! I may try this myself. What kind of fish do you have in there by the way?

I had hydras once. Adding gouramis took care of them. Pretty much any gourami (dwarf or the larger ones) likes hydra. I have ghost shrimp with two flame gouramis, and they don't bother the shrimp.
