Lakes are worry free oceans. No rip tide, currants, stingy thingies or sharks to worry about. Perfect for lazing about.

Oceans are scarier.

I was stationed at Pepperell ab until it closed in 1960. My wife is a Newfie from St Johns. I have eaten most of the Newfie food and love all but cods tongues and flipper pie.
The lobsters are large and taste wonderful. And going fishing on trouting day is great.
Catchin those trout and landlocked salmon in that cold water is some of the best eating you could ever want.Go to Big Rs in St Johns and get a plate of fish n chips with stuffinn and gravy. I bet it will be some of the best you have had.Our fish and chips at Capt. "Ds" here in alabama is good but but not like Big Rs.

I will do this. I swear I will. I will set aside a day, get proper shoes, and head out before sunset...to give me plenty of time to soak it all in - and cling to the rope if need be.

I love the Signal Hill hike :) Definitely a little worrisome the first couple times, but every time I get to St. John's (okay, I've only been three times, but I'll be back many more I hope!) I try to do the hill hike a few times. So beautiful.

The Battery is too cool. Too too cool. I've lived in one of the rowhouses downtown and that was cool too. But the Battery? That's waterfront heaven. Feels like you're out in the countryside. Luv luv.
