I think the 4-5 booths that are set up there have good quality produce and other food, and the prices are reasonable. I bought several things yesterday.

But to call it an “Uptown Market” is a little deceiving. To me, “market” implies something much larger than what is offered here…which isn’t to say that it’s not good…but folks expecting a full-blown market with lots of stands/choices aren’t really going to get that.

I think this is a very fun thing to do, something I’d love to do myself if I had the money to do so.

Whatever the motive (and maybe the only one is to have fun), this event brings a smile to a lot of people’s faces, and that’s a heck of a lot more than many people do on any given Friday.

So - GO FRANK! - and Happy Birthday to you.

Sitting behind his desk doing what? Scheming to build high rises? Or pouring through RFPs for a forensic auditor and management consultant to hire so he can find out how many useless employees he can fire & the level of cost savings he can uncover?

You’re right, Zimmer wouldn’t have “visited” the kids for a short period like Cammarano did, she would have spent the whole day playing wiffle ball with them at Maxwell park.

The free lunch program and the summer gymnastics program are city-organized events that serve a lot of kids at risk. It’s completely appropriate that the Mayor spends some time making the rounds to see the city’s programs in action.
