Daniel (and Audrey): Where'd you get the discount heart? [big grin] Yeah, I saw that and couldn't envision eating one, or even sharing it with a whole family. And I love hamburgers! Besides, where's the jalapeño peppers? They put enough of those on there, I might give it a go...

Thanks for stopping by! I hope your travels are safe and entertaining.

Fair prognosis. Audrey saw this photo and said "gross...nasty." I'm still laughing. Although the burger only runs 777 yen, the post-prandial heart transplant required after downing this monstrosity is probably about 7,777,777 yen.

Mr. Toy, thanks for your insight. People who really know the culture always have the "inside scoop" on where the Good Stuff is! I have both Pho Hoang and Pho Viet in my area, and I still visit both. You're right, though, the service, ambience and preparation is slightly ahead at Pho Viet. I think both offer good value, and certainly quick lunch at either place, unless you get there a bit late and get stuck in the rush!

Besides these two stores, where else in the north of Austin can you get good Vietnamese? I'm always on the lookout...

I am Vietnamese and Pho Hoang is totally NOT on my recommendation list. PHO VIET on another hand has been earning my business and more. I recommended it to everyone I know and eat there almost every week. The quality, the taste is very good for the money (very affordable.)
The customer service is excellent too. Hope that they can keep this standard up and more!

You're exactly right, Joyce. As always, the "English" language we speak leaves entirely too many chances for misunderstanding; including (undecipherable) food puns (of a sort). Kinda leaves you wondering, though; does this mean the Swiss didn't invent hot chocolate too? Shockers... [extra big grin] Thanks for stopping by!

"Swiss" refers to the method of tenderizing a tougher cut of meat - usually with a thingie that looks like a tool of torture with lots of nails on a paddle. Maybe it should be called "tortured steak".
