Neerja, my generation hid ANYTHING that might be interesting, playful, or enjoyable about sex. I can say the adventure of learning "by trial and error" over the course of a lifetime has been FUN. But how rewarding to have a place to go where we can be honest and frank about a core emotional place in our bodies and lives.
Bravo.

Without realizing it is happening, we are suddenly aware of the tightness across the chest, the shoulders that won't relax, and the back of the neck that is as tight as a clothesline. . . that's the time articles like this one can give us some immediate relief and lead us to new ways of coping. We all have different ways of doing so; experimenting with different techniques and philosophies will lead you to your unique "recipe" to loosen up that tension.

I'd be interested to know some of your "recipes" for relief from tension. Sports? Exercise? Meditation or other contemplatie activities?

And the mothers who teach their children how to spread that love, teach them to ride a bike, kiss scraped knees to make an "owie" well, and know when to let their children spread their own wings and fly.

I haven't checked out this program, but have studied chakras in other environments. Wanted to point out, however, that the articles you read in "It's All About Women" are pointers to whole new ways of seeing yourself, reminders of past experiences that should be reexamines (like chakras), and an open door to vital programs that lead you in a healthy, wholesome path.

Yes!! Everyone, from childhood on, appreciates being remembered . . . and our name is our public "handle." Small though it may seem, I believe that Dr. Herman Wells, president and chancelor of Indiana University, called me BY NAME everytime he saw me as he walked about the campus. For a green kid from a small town in southern Indiana, it made me feel like I really BELONGED in college if he could remember my name. There is a statue of Dr. Wells, now deceased, on the IU campus . . . not up on a pedistal, but sitting on a wooden bench, with room for someone to sit beside him! He was a giant of a person, but he also made the small, significant steps that are important to others.

Interesting to learn about each chakra and what they relate to mentally, spiritually and physically. I understand that physical activity is good for strengthening the root chakra - anything that involves movement of the body - sports, dance, walking, yoga, etc. I look forward to learning about the other chakras and how to strengthen, balance and align them all!

I love all of these stress relief tips - especially things that are so simple like laughing more and rubbing my ears (that's the first I've heard of that one!), breathing deeply and taking the scenic route. I actually do take a more scenic route to my office rather than the freeway route! I am going to think about how to take a more scenic route when running errands. Two other things that are relaxing and soothing for me are dancing and being with my kitties!

Great hints, as I try and recall all sorts of names from students to clients to vendors, i fail often, but this really ought to help. If you are visual, write it down (or find it written)! If you are auditory, say it aloud. If you are kinetic, write it out.

I've shared some of these same ideas when teaching people how to remember people's names when networking; however, this is the first time I've heard about the M.O.M. acronym and I like it . . . especially the idea of asking myself the question “Why do I want to remember this person’s name?” when I meet someone new and identifying my motivation. I do find that focus and attention is what makes the difference for me.
