Apache has some very simple configuration settings for this: ExpiresActive On ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 day" ExpiresByType text/javascript "access plus 1 day" ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash "access plus 1 day" The browser will not download a css, javascript or flash file again, or even check if it has changed.
