These are hilarious and unrealistic. I will never want to pick my life up and live in random and expensive places for one year, where I don't have a support system. One month abroad? Sure! LA for a year? Not in a million years. Swim the English Channel? Sounds good, probably wouldn't end well. I think the dirty pictures, although fun, aren't a good idea for anyone. We should all have learned from the mistakes of people like Cameron Diaz and Paris Hilton. The moral of this story is: have fun before you have too many responsibilities.

One of the most important lessons I've learned so far:

Time heals all things. - Though, knowing this does not make the pain easier to cope with in the moment.

I totally agree with this post. I know that I spend all kind of time doing things that don't mean anything to me, and there is simply too much meaningless stuff in my life.

Thanks for the reminder :)

Thank You Marc and Angel. I enjoyed your list of how to make today memorable. (1) Try something totally new (2) Entertain yourself with real-world experiences (3) Work on something that’s meaningful to you (4) Challenge your mind and body (5) Concentrate on less, but give it your best (6) Say “yes” to a spontaneous opportunity (7) Complete an important piece of unfinished business (8) Document your day (9) Smile, be positive, and notice what’s right (10) Be authentic. Be true to yourself (11) Actively assist someone in need (12) Share time with a good friend and experience life together (13) Make a new friend (14) Do something fun and laugh your ass off (15) Be present. Be here now.

As we learn to live in the present moment every moment is memorable because we simply are. Living in the moment brings us into being-ness that is rich and full and grateful and happy.

May we all know that we are held by something larger then our momentary judgment of each moment.

I wanted a REALLY fast and hassle free way of adding a note-to-self. I use Chrome when I browse, and it is ALWAYS open. It has a feature to make shortcuts to searchengines. So instead of a searchengine I sent the "search words" to http://www.theinfopad.com/addnote.asp?note=%s
Which in short adds a note to my noteslist, and returns me to the site I was at. Lightning fast and always available no matter where I am.
eg. To add a note "buy milk" I can take any open Chrome browser and just type "n buy milk". This conduct could probably be applied to (m)any online notetaking apps.

Hey Robin... and marc...and angel :)

wow. awwwwsome life you've had! :)

hot air ballooning in kathmandu is def on my list of to-dos. recently got back from south india (kerala backwaters are a-mazing) but still have to hit up the north and nepal. so excited!!

you sound like tomb raider :P

planning a trip to see the animals crossing the sahara next year. super excited. i live in cape town, south africa so isn't too far.

large scale adventuring is superultracool. but you can also make adventures on the small scale. walk a different way through town and stop at the first place you come across. little things. wrote a whole post on it recently. and about buddhist butchers :)

inspiring stuff.

stumbled!

keep well and in touch

p.s. are you south african too?

@Neha - Thanks for being one of my inspirations for an adventurous life. Hope we get to do another adventure together soon!

@Karl - Great points. We just had a baby too, and we're already dreaming & scheming for his first adventures. Once you have kids, it's time to get REALLY creative with life and breakdown a lot more of your barriers in life (kids will do a lot of that for you!)

@Renee - Holy cow Renee! Those ARE adventurous things to do! There is no right & wrong to the adventurous life. The whole point is just to live a life that fulfills you. Don't worry about whether it meets anyone else's definition of adventurous.

I'm not an extreme adventurous person, whatever that means, but I have always wanted to fly in a hot air balloon, kayak, sailboat, scuba dive, visit the Sahara and Savanna's of Africa. Along with traveling to unique places and learning more, these are my only real adventures.

Fear plays a big part of the decisions we make. We don't want to tip our boat over. The thing we forget is how resilient we are. We are strong beings that need to push past our fear and enjoy everything this world has to offer.

I'm having a kid very soon, so I know that traveling will be tough, but I'm putting my adventure plan together this week. Thanks.

Awesome post. I'm an adrenaline junky and I know it does wonderful things for your life. I've spent most of my life traveling because of my dad's occupation. And my adventures will only continue.
