Looked at the plans for the Ridgemond Park Estate, (with a view to buying) but soon realised the potential for further development on the fields.
A lot of school fields have a covenent of no further building for min 10 years (worth checking).
.
Always thought the developer was ‘pushing it’ with glossy brochure showing big open green field with blue sky probably knowing it wouldn’t look like that for too much longer whilst charging a high premium for a ‘temporary’ view..!

Similar problems for residents buying 1st phase at town centre apartments at old Gates Garage. Another building went up beside them blocking out all light and views.
.
All this to say ‘buyer beware’ and, personally I think residents of the respective developments may have a case for compensation against their developers if they were misled in the sales process.

What contingencies have been made for the reinstatment of Telford Avenue and Newton Road on completion of the contract? And who pays?

What was the result of the Asbestos survey for the old school buildings?
.
The cost of delay of Lonsdale buildings to the contractors bottom line v cost of reinstatment to SBC/HCC roads at ratepayers? cost = no contest
.
If we witness lorries leaving site with full demolition loads WITHOUT sheeting, are we within our rights to stop the lorry and ask it return to site to be sheeted?

So what about consulting again with the residents who are affected and whom you so convieniently ‘forgot’ to tell the true nature of the development proposals. Which MUST have been known about at the time of planning approval on such a large project.

Or are you saying that Balfour Beatty are so incompetent as to have no idea where 600+ lorry loads of demolition spoil would have to go and at what stage of the build?
.
If so we need an urgent review as to the suitability of the main contractor to carry out this contract….!
.
If approval is granted for Telford/Newton Rd route then what contingencies are in place for reinstatement of these roads surfaces, verges, kerbs, drain covers, mud sweeping, damage to cars, house windows etc?

Dear, Madame or sir who is providing the new school.

How long or an estimate would be of how long it would take for the new school to be built. In the time of it being built will the pupils have any problems going to schoo and lastly of my conscernes as a pupil the rescources that are there can we all use them marriotts or lonsdale. But then will there be surtain things built in the building that can only be used for lonsdale.

I have now found out that the informal request for general extension of working hours at Nobel School has been rejected. But they did have an extension on Saturday and will have another one next Saturday.

Hi Bob,
Complete agreement about getting things in writing and keeping the pressure up. Hopefully this site will help do just that.

Apparently they have already extended the working hours at the Nobel site, but that is another development company.

Resident of Newton Road.
You’re never going to change their minds over the lorry route..it’s their easiest option by a long way.

Far better to concentrate efforts on the post-construction reinstatement of Newton/Telford and don’t let the Main Contractor/HCC leave it in a TOTAL MESS as per Marriotts Gym build in 2001.

Spoke to Architect and Balfour’s Bid Manager Andrew McCunnell at first public meeting, who assured me they wouldn’t walk away & leave destruction behind this time (had these promises from Main Contractor for Gym)…so seeing is believing. When budgets overrun these works are among the first to be cut. Only way to be sure is get it in writing and keep the pressure up!
