Itmis a beautiful facility that is just starting to show its full potential. Great addition to the community. Things are changing in FSJ, attitudes are changing. Great place to live and raise a family. The addition of this facility will only contribute. We ahve had two olympic speedskaters come from the ranks of the local Elks club…….who knows what the future will hold. I have spent a lot of time in and around the facility since it opened. It is fantastic. The landscaping is gorgeous. World class facility. Bravo. There are many contributers paying for it, corporate down to private citizen. Well done everyone. What is next! Lets do it – perhaps it is only the start.

No I do not work at the McMahon plant any more. I am on White Lake in the beautiful Shuswap. I am glad not to be paying the high FSJ taxes anymore and get way more for the taxes I pay now!

horsemanure. Great facility, great for citizons. A power engineer from McMahon in Taylor? I know a little about the staff at that facility and their credibility is lacking. My, my so negative. do you play sports or run, speed skate? Probalby not – too busy boiling water at McMahon and spreading gossip.

Hello Mark,
From B&H, by a mistake, I just ordered and received ColorMunki Design instead of ColorMunki Photo. I sent them an email reporting the problem to them and here is the reply!!!!
Your initial email said that you DID install it. Sorry but we cannot take it back.
In fact:
- I have not installed the software.
- I have not opened the CDs
- I have not used the software at all.
Even if I have installed the software which I did not do that, the software requires online registration to run. I have not done any kind of any registration.
In addition, the software comes with a tool to run, I beleive, if the tool is not connected to the PC, the software will not run.
After all, the application is not installed and is found for free to install online. Without the tool that comes with, the software will be considered useless.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hello again,
Regarding the use of ColorMunki after installation, due to that I have not yet received a software license
Key, I couldn’t use it. ColorMunki asked me to either register or exit, so, I had to press on exit button (There was no option to proceed as a trail).
Regarding the printer profile creation, as I just knew from the video demos I have seen, as long as you can print the chart to the selectd printer, you only need to name the created profile to have the name of that printer and media type. FYI, I have already set an order for both ColorMunki and ColorChecker Passport. I hope my live on printing will be changed to better printed images.

I have never tried the option in ColorMunki to “have ColorMunki set printing applications to use the profile created”(or something like that). I stopped before that point. I did not trust that. I pick the profile I want when printing as I use different profiles created for different papers. You need a profile for each paper, ink, and printer combination. ColorMuki would not know what paper is in the printer, if you have 2 different glossy paper profiles, for example.

I do not understand what you mean by I could not use the downloaded application. Could you please explain more.

Yes, I do understand that ColorMunki is a standalone application. I have downloaded and installed it but could NOT use it.
I fully understand your point on # 2.
Regarding the Print With Profile, I have seen a video that says, ColorMunki is smart that will automatically recognize the type of printer and select the best chart for the currently selected (turned-on) printer!!! How does it know that?
Does ColorMunki have a list of printers embedded or it only assumes the best chart?

1. Yes ColorMunki can be used with Photoshop CS. ColorMunki is a stand alone application for creating profiles.
2. ColorMunki can be used to create profiles for any printer. You print the test strips directly from ColorMumki and then measure the results with the ColorMunki Spectrophotometer.

The Mayor now? Bruce Lantz, google it if you want to have any credibility.
Your photography skills are nagging as well. If you look close at the pics, they seem to be digitally enhanced.

And I wonder if you have even attended ANY city council meetings to voice your concerns. I highly doubt it.

You just sit on the computer and complain. Wow. Effective.

Oh, and no wonder why the foreman kicked you off site… YOU WERE ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE… a…duh.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I think next month I will spring for a Lastolite illuminated background. I will probably do a review for that a short time after. I work in a gas processing plant and put in a lot of overtime. That keeps me very busy and not much time for my hobby.

I am so tired of all the complaining and finger pointed regarding the enerplex!!! Jum Eglinski was not Mayor when the enerplex was brought in, he was a councillor, who had a vote on it – ONLY!! Once it was voted in, who oever is mayor must finish the previous mayors commitments – the enerplex is one of them. As for money that young athletes bring in..it is LOTS – every hockey tournament brings in 8 or more out of town teams, every figure skating event or speed skating meet bring often hundreds of people to our community – who spend money, here in FSJ. They buy food, spend nights in hotels, go to the movies, swimming, bowling, often buy clothes/amenities if they come from smaller towns and the list goes on and on. Althetics is a very healthy way for children to grow up. Would you rather we spend millions of dollars on soemthing productive or those millions trying to rescue our kids from drugs, gangs and the streets. Athletics is a proven motivation to keep kids on the healthy track of life. Fort St. john is ever growing, the only way we continue to grow is to build and expand and yes that takes money – lots of money, money many of us do not have a lot of. I have been a long time tax payer in FSJ and though do not always agree with the way my money is spent – I truly cannot wait until the day that my family and I can enjoy the enerplex! Hurry up and build it!!

I do not see a problem with this combination of lights. You will probably end up using the Profotos as your main lights! I did not buy the units with the built in Pocket Wizards though. For about the same price I bought separate Pocket Wizards so I could use them how ever I wanted. You can even trip your camera remotely with Pocket Wizards if you buy the cord for your camera. You still have to buy one for your camera anyways. I bought 3, one for the camera and one each for the key and fill light. The background and accent lights are tripped by the optical slaves. Profoto is expensive but well built and the output is the same from flash to flash.

Hi Todd

Sorry but no I do not have any vids of the lights in use. My studio is a year old and I still am figuring out how to run it, let alone teach anything! Brand new to this part of photography. I wanted to start out with the best also, thinking the way you are. The Profoto stuff is probably the most expensive there is. The Compact lights are their cheapest lights compared to the generator sets. The accessories are expensive also. It is all well made stuff that works as intended though. I have not had any problems with the 4, 600 W/s units I bought. They work well. The light is absolutely constant per flash. I knocked over a light changing out the 3 x 4 ft soft box once. It fell onto a chair with no reflector attached. The cover glass, flash tube and modeling light all broke! The medal housing around the glass bent. Took it apart (good size wires, high quality parts, and good build quality) bent the housing back, the metal is light and soft but will not break when you bend it back. Replaced all the glass ( slightly less than half the cost of the unit!) It all works and can not tell what happened.
As said in other posts the kit stands are not the best and a bit on the light side, will be changing these out over time. Just bought a Manfrotto boom stand with counter weight, nice. I like good stuff!

Mark, thank you for demonstrating the Profoto accessories. I was wondering if you have a video of the lights in use? I am considering buying my first set of studio lights and want to start out with a good set so I do not have to replace them. I believe in buying good equipment instead of settling for mediocre stuff and regretting it later and then having to sell it for a lot less than I paid for it to fund getting what I should have in the first place. I want something that recycles fast, has a good range of adjustability and is durable. Have you had any issues or needed service on the units? If so, how was the experience? Any help or advice you can provide is appreciated.

Interesting results, i have tried every hdr app on the market and from my personal point of view if i had to choose between these apps i would choose Photomatix hands down. That being said i personally prefer Artisen for many reasons which might be to much to mention in this posting, but i would really recommend you give it a run. I only use Photomatix and Artizen i don’t seem to need anything else cause between the 2 i get everything i could need.
