The colour palette you chose is very true to the reference material and also corresponds perfectly with the two previous pics: the blue and the pink/fiery. Amazing work on those floating seeds – the lighting looks pure magic and very much alive. Great job on the hammock too!

I absolutely adore all the tiny details – the necklace and bracelets, all the Na'vi skin dots, Neytiri's hair and even things like her fingernails. I especially love Neytiri's feral expression – truly shows off her spirit.

I'm delighted to be able to watch the master at work as I should polish my own Photoshop skills as well. I do some 3D CG graphics from time to time and editing them in Photoshop afterwards is a necessity.

Heey, but take a look at all those details! All the wee feathers Neytiri's wearing and the texture of her braids – I really love this. I also love the way you draw grass – looks fantastic. A random thought – are you going to cover up Neytiri's right breast a little bit?

Say, remember I asked you about Neytiri's right eye some two weeks ago – that maybe you could make it slightly bigger? I imagine it might be too late to do this now, with the colours already on the picture. Plus, I'm not overly sure if it's needed – when I look at the picture from certain angles, it looks perfectly fine. So it's most probably just a matter of perspective and POV, and my not being too perceptive. The colours really brought up the 3D effect and that helped that eye too look well.

Anyway, this is a truly outstanding job and I strongly believe it's going in the perfect direction. So I'll leave you to it and please accept my sincere thanks for your hard and beautiful work.

It feels as if we've walked a long way to get to this awesome beauty, but in real it's just been 3 weeks and most of that time you've worked on all three images from the set, starting from the very basic stage of looking for the best poses and composition up to the most precise adjustments of the tiniest details.

My goodness, Meisan, let me just say again how exciting it is to watch you at work. I knew this image – the entire trio of artworks that you're designing – would be grand, and yet you've managed to amaze me, amaze totally.
This is a real work of art and I'm delighted beyond words to receive it. The picture is saying what I wanted it to say. It's what I imagined it could be. It's an absolute world class professional work with a touch of personal magic.
I couldn't be happier with it. It's magnificent and I feel honoured I get to see it and to own it. From the poses through the expressions, the colours and the shadows, emotions and atmosphere, background and all those details – you've done more than a great job. You made a piece of stunning art!

Yes, exactly! What James Cameron did was adding the additional layer (or a couple of them) of background, providing us with a depth of field. You don't really get spears flying out of the screen, as that might annoy some audience. Instead, you get an immersive spectacle where you very much feel being a part of what's going on.
I always feel like I'm flying on those ikran and interacting with the Na'vi around me during clan gatherings.

Yah the movie quite wonderful in 3d digital it's not very deep like 3d cartoon animation but it have seperate in layer and have dimension.I can absorb more feeling when watching 3d version,and it's quite cool about idea behind the movie.

For your idea I think it's fantastic about having Ney'tiri in romantic feeling.I'll try to make that. in 3rd piece.
It look like a bit different from sketch version though.

oh yah another thing is I agree about Jake mask.

Wow, I appreciate the idea of my having the only piece (well the only three pieces) of this gorgeous work, but are you sure? A unique and incredibly gorgeous set of “Avatar” artworks is definitely something I had in mind for my wife's birthday.

I'm so happy to hear you watched it in 3D! The effect is only deeper, isn't it? And watching movie for the second time always lets you notice all the details you may have missed the first time. Us, we've already seen it 5 times and I still keep noticing new, tiny, fascinating details. I absolutely agree, “Avatar” is very thought-provoking and in our politically “correct” world, smothered by industralization and natural disasters a message like this definitely should be heard and talked about. So it's only natural that the movie has already earned a whole lot over one billion dollars. In a few weeks time it will become the biggest movie of all times (right now it's second only to “Titanic”.

Hammock is a great idea. But you're right, poor Jake would die without a mask, unless in a pressurized indoors area where Pandoran air is filtered by ventilation systems. And in a building like this Neytiri probably wouldn't be able to breathe without some kind of filter mask, so it's either one way or another, until Jake reclaims his Avatar body.
So my thought is – put the mask on. The design doesn't conceal much of the face and mask's being there reminds us of the huge gap between our world and the world of the Na'vi.

I'm wondering though – we already have sad Neytiri on artwork no.: 1 and battle-ready Neytiri on artwork no.: 2. Perhaps on artwork no.: 3 she should have a more romantic facial expression? She could be looking down at Jake in her arms, smiling and longing to kiss him. What do you think? Or she could be looking back at us, like on your initial sketch, but perhaps with a more relaxed, smiling expression?
Well, these are just thoughts.

Oh, and Meisan, take your time, okay? Don't worry at all about late replies – life, and especially hospital visits, are far more important.

I've already watch 2nd time of movie now in 3d digital,the ticket price is higher than normal but it's worth.I enjoy the show, I love Naytiri more.I enjoy the world of pandora.(Papa dragon is also cool haha)Especially when continue to read the book after the show.I've read somany review about the movie also.From my opinion Avatar is quite entertaining movie,and there're some thought and attitude behind it such as make people want to save the world and natural or others idea as well.

For the next step is 3rd piece I think Jake will sitting at hammock.I'm not sure about Jake mask,Do you think I should add Jake mask?but I think for normally Jake should wear mask in pandora or he'll die@_@.

And it's so exciting!!! My goodness, I just ADORE the background you chose! That branch, the rock arches in the distance, the mountains and the birds… It's breathtaking!

You've also done a terrific job with the poses of both characters. That squat Neytiri's doing is AMAZING!!! And I really love that perspective you employed for Neytiri's left hand. Woow, this is going to look so wonderful! Actually, it already looks wonderful!!

My only suggestion at this stage is to maybe work a little bit more on Neytiri's right eye. (left from our point of view, but right physically). If you cover that eye with your finger or something and then imagine how the hidden eye could look like, then remove your finger… something looks a little bit odd, I think. Not overly, but just a little bit.
I'm thinking – maybe you could slightly enlarge and lift that eye??

Apart from this my only other thought is – you're doing a terrific job, my friend! Keep working on it because it's a real masterpiece! This image alone, when finished, will sell you hundreds of prints at your shop, trust me on it!!!

I'm so happy to hear that book is useful to you. It doesn't contain a great many pictures, but it's neatly organised and structured, and the descriptions of various plants, animals, culture characteristics and artifacts are priceless! I bought it, because it allows me to “live the movie” even while I'm not watching it – I keep listening to “Avatar” soundtrack as well. I guess I'm totally hyped up. And my wife too!

I think manga style is quite popular outside East Asia. I know that it is very popular in United States and I'm sure it's loved by young folk here in United Kingdom as well. Though it's mostly anime what's really renowned outside East Asia.
Me, I grew up on lots of anime movies and TV series imported from Japan. I also studies Japanese for a couple of years and soon will have a Master's Degree in Cross-Cultural Psychology (East Asian specialization). So, as you can see, there's a multitude of reasons why I enjoy your gallery that much.

I'm happy to see a talented artist, like yourself, being able to live solely on her talent and artistic work. That's very encouraging. In US or UK the living costs are horrendous, so most artists have to have a day job and pursue their passions only in their “free time”, which makes it more like a hobby than anything else. So you're the lucky one, Meisan – and I'm very happy for you!

Ahh, and speaking about living costs in Thailand – I am really looking forward to visiting the country in the future. Maybe thanks to the currency exchange rate I and my wife could afford a couple of weeks stay (after the airplane ticket dries out our budget).

Woow, you've added so many details and basically went forward with just about everything! Did I already tell you how much I adore the b&w versions of your art? You do grey shades in a truly awesome way.

Anyways, yup, just to confirm – that tail really looks amazing the way it is. It composes very nicely with the background, with the plants. And the plants – whooo, that's such an amazing job! You have a very keen eye, my friend. They're exactly like in the movie and on the screenshots.

Hmm, say, are you going to put Jake's exopack mask on, as we originally planned? With that many details on screen and with the b&w colouring already on it might prove difficult… Great job on his face, by the way. Excellent haircut – straight from the movie. And a very fitting facial expression – sad and contemplating, just like Neytiri's.

What a gorgeous update! Wow, I'm totally speechless!
Watching you at work, coming up with a step after step of the creation process, is hugely exciting! It's amazing how much can each of these sketches change during just one of those development steps, even though the sketches are also consistently true to the original idea, no matter the stage of development. You're a very patient and well organized artist, Meisan. I find I admire your work more and more – and I've seen your entire gallery and loved it!!!

The background is now more clearly hinted and I really like what I see. The plants in the upper part of the picture and those in the bottom part of the picture both look very Pandoran, very true to the reference material. They also compose perfectly with the tone and the atmosphere of the image.

Ah, thank you so very much for following that idea of mine, to have Jake bend both his legs. I knew it'd look good – and on the image you uploaded today it looks simply brilliant! Great job on the trousers as well. Amazing wrinkles on the fabric.

I can see you've worked a lot on Neytiri's face. It turned out so beautiful, so sad and innocent!!! She looks so sentimental, depressed that she and her lover are separated (due to him being in a human body). You've done some trule gorgoeus details on her – the Na'vi ears, her hair, those bracelets and the tail ornament. Amazing job. I also totally adore the hands of both characters – Jake's hand touching Neytiri's wrist, Neytiri's hands on Jake's chest. It's a fantastic artwork, really!!!

Great idea to include Neytiri's dagger in the picture – that reminds the viewer that she's more than what we see. She's a warrior.
Ahh, I really love the way you drew her collarbones and put shades on them. You really know your trade, Meisan!!!

Hey, I'm intrigued by one thing, though: are you going to flip the image horizontally later on? I just ask because you've pierced Neytiri's left ear and you've put those gorgeous-looking bracelets on her left arm. You've also attached the dagger to the belt on her left hip. I love the idea – those details add so much to the artwork!

Goodness me, I love it so much!!! The background will be pushing the entire focus of the image towards Neytiri's face – which is, what Mucha style is all about, right? Ahh, all those details look absolutely terrific, you've done an incredible job, Meisan!!! I'm so excited!

…Oh, I just had a thought. The theme of this image is so sombre and delicate – could we possibly have Neytiri's tail express this sort of emotion? Right now it's lifted in the air – one could say it's agitated a bit. But if we could have her tail lying down on the ground, kind of along her leg… don't you think it could look a bit better?

Meisan, you've done an amazing job. These initial sketches are absolutely terrific. They've sent my imagination flying – and I must say I'm really, honestly, very satisfied. They're wonderful. Oh, and it's such a great idea to work on all of them at the same time! Thanks to this we can monitor whether they look cool next to each other – and they do, they do very much indeed!!!

I can already see your plans for all the backgrounds and all the most prominent details of the picture composition. Lovely, absolutely lovely. My goodness, I'm so excited!!! On Avatar1 we'll have a very calm, very quiet scene of two lovers enjoying their own thoughts and the tranquility of the forest. On Avatar2 we'll have an incredible action scene. And on Avatar3 we'll have a scene that can still go into a couple of directions, depending on details of body positioning and expressions – Neytiri could be protecting Jake or she could be expressing her love to him…
Okay, but all in proper order. I do have some more specific comments and small suggestions. As much as I love this second step of your creation process – and I totally adore it – I want to help and contribute whatever I can, to make it perfect.

I believe that it's quite important to show the fact that Jake is paraplegic. He's paralized from waist-down. He wouldn't be able to move his legs, if he wasn't lifting them himself, with his own hands.

On picture Avatar1 we could show this better in two ways. We could either straighten both his legs and lie them down on the ground or bent both his legs so that the knees are touching each other (in a similar way as when he sat on his wheelchair). In my opinion the second option would probably look better – more “graceful” and “dignified”.
To better explain what I have in mind, I marked the sketch with some red lines. I'll send you this altered picture, along with several others, via e-mail.
Some slight modifications in leg length might also help, although this is only what I think – please see the altered picture and tell me what you think.

As for the second picture – the Avatar2 – I can't really think of anything at all that might require corrections or alterations on it. The sketch is absolutely fabulous! It's a masterpiece and I can't wait to see it in full blossom.

In regards to Avatar3 sketch my thoughts are similar to Avatar1. Neytiri looks perfect, absolutely perfect, and I love the way you draw Jake – however, he may be a little bit too “long” starting at the chest level and going down. His torso and legs are nearly as big as Neytiri's and he looks as if he could lift his leg (even though that leg is just resting on the hammock/tree branch, the illusion might still be misleading). If you could possibly draw both of Jake's legs together, with his knees touching each other, it would look more like paralized legs. And Neytiri could be holding them with her left hand.
So, I drew some red lines on the Avatar3 picture as well, just to illustrate what I have in mind. Both these altered sketches are just suggestions and I'd really love to learn your opinion on what I wrote down. I'm not an artist, so please consider this just a loud thinking.

Anyway, all in all these three sketches are truly amazing. You've really awakened my imagination with them – and I can already see the marvels they'll soon become. I cannot thank you enough for your hard and gorgeous work. I absolutely adore all three pictures… and did I mention how excited I am?

Ha ha, I'm very happy that you like that little guidebook. You're right, the illustrations aren't too big or too numerous – it's mostly the detailed descriptions that matter there. Still, no worries – I'll keep sending you reference material. Each and everyday I stumble upon interesting screenshots and images on Internet. Along with the two altered sketches I mentioned, I will send you today a small screenshot showing both Jake and Neytiri from their sides (90 degrees point of view). I figured you might need something like this for Avatar3, for Neytiri's face. And I'm also sending you another screenshot with Neytiri crouching and hissing with a knife in her hand, as I'm unsure yet what sort of expression will you decide to use in Avatar3. Are you going more for a “protector's snarl” or will Neytiri simply be wary of a potential uncoming danger?
Also, as you will put a knife in Neytiri's hand on Avatar2, I'll attach a detailed pic of Neytiri's dagger.
And, I also found a useful pic showing Pandoran jungle, which you might find useful when drawing the backgrounds…

I've receive package of book today Pawel.It's very fantastic book,like guidebook for pandora traveler something like that.It's has detail and funto read have picture althought it's not detail picture but it's very well using for reference.Thankyou very much for fantastic book!!!.I feel like very lucky to work with you.:)

However, even though I consider all these thumbnails to be fantastic, the choice I made came quick and is firm. The top-right picture – the one you tagged as liked the most – is also my favourite one. It has great positioning and some wonderful opportunities to show off emotions between characters. A wheelchair down there is an excellent idea, although it is up to you whether you want to put it there or not – see what works best for the picture.

I also very much like the other sketches you came up with today. Fantastic job, my friend, really. The bottom-right one is truly magnificent. Wonderful poses and POV. Meisan, these sketches so clearly show off your talent – just a couple of pencil strokes and you get dynamic, proportional figures. It's a real gift, I say!

And the other two thumbnails are also lovely. Goodness, if only I could, I would have you make twelve pictures like this, not just three.
But for now let's focus on three “only”. And we now have the full set chosen. The top-left from the first bunch of thumbnails (Neytiri kneeling and hugging human Jake from behind), the top-left from the second bunch (Neytiri crouching – maybe with a knife? And avatar Jake with a rifle behind her) and the top-right pic from the third bunch (Neytiri holding Jake in her arms – a real beauty!).

So it is decided. The left sketch from the first bunch of thumbnails and the top-left sketch from the second bunch. Wonderful! I couldn't be happier with this conclusion. Now we just have to choose the third picture idea and we're set to go.

Wooow, I totally love the top-left thumbnail. The one with Jake in his Avatar form and Neytiri crouching in front of him. This is definitely a must. It's a brilliant idea, it's full of action, it's amazing. Oh yeah!!!

The bottom-left thumbnail, with Jake on a wheelchair and Neytiri crouching next to him. Again – brilliant. The scale is perfect and it gives us the opportunity to show off their love and tenderness. They can both touch each other and look at each other. Perfect.
Hmm, I wonder if perhaps Neytiri could be kneeling next to Jake's armchair on both knees, rather than just on one. That could make her look more relaxed and in a romantic mood.
All in all, a fantastic idea and also a definite must.

The top-right thumbnail shows the couple in a pose we really want – they're hugging. It's a gorgeous composition and in proper conditions will make a fantastic artwork. However, let's keep the scale in mind. Human is nearly two times smaller than a Na'vi. I'm thinking that to make it right we'll have to have Neytiri lifting/hugging Jake in her arms. Like a baby, though in a romantic way. What do you think?

The bottom-right thumbnail shows the couple in a very sensuous, contemplating way. Dreamy, relaxed. Jake is in his Avatar form, clearly. I like it – it's very delicate, tranquil. However, given the fact that we're making three artworks in total and we're gonna have one of them with Jake in his Avatar body already – the top-left thumbnail (I love it!!!) – I'd keep Jake in his human body in the remaining two artworks.

All in all (goodness, I'm such a talker! Apologies, if this comment is too long!!) I really love them all, so, as I said, the choice will be very difficult.

The top-left thumbnail is an absolute must. It's brilliant.
I'd also love to see the bottom-left thumbnail. It's what I imagined when I first decided I'd like to have these artworks done.
I'd love to see the top-right thumbnail realised as well… but let's also remember about the previous bunch of thumbnails – the ones you made a week ago.

Neytiri has only one ear pierced – the right one. I'm sure you've seen her round earring on the screenshots, however, if you look closely, you'll notice that she only wears it in her right ear.
