Then they just hit the SPAM button instead. Where is the logic in that? Let them unsubscribe if they want to - it's better than getting booted out of the system or blacklisted by ISP's.

That's the only way I used to eat broccoli. Better yet, we used to eat it with Miracle Whip :P

Did not get to PubCon. They don't let me out in public very often. But SE Roundtable provided the best online coverage of the conference, hands down.

I'm sorry I missed Pubcon, but thanks for the writeup. Quite a few helpful takeaways at this panel (and on your blog, of course) that I can use. Now I just have to get a blog up and running as step 1!

About time! Stop living your life and post more often!

Nice post. I didn't see these points in the live blogging I followed. I'm not sure I checked into the competitive intelligence panel during the convention.

thanks for the comment! what i really enjoyed is that it's a competitive intelligence checklist, which any company can take away and walk through and understand in a sequential manner. thanks again, i'm sure many people got a lot out of it!

Danielle - I completely agree with you. Many people are shy to attend the first few events, however after showing up and interacting a couple times, you really find value in meeting people in your field.

I have been so lucky to meet several important contacts while I work out of cafes & fly (people who happen to be sitting next to me), and more - but actually surrounding yourself with people specifically in your field allows you to speak the same language and learn more about the latest news in your industry while meeting new people.

You never know what can happen or who you will meet that can potentially help you in the future!
