I believe Nepomuceno’s daughter was missing the right arm from birth, this is according to Nicolas Slonimsky, author of “Music of Latin America”. She was apparently well-known as a pianist, though I have no information about what her repertoire may have been as an adult.

In reply to melocool music. I think it’s a combination of both. The pieces are short and each unit is based on a specific concept or pattern, so that helps with familiarity while still providing new material. And the immediate feedback is invaluable!
