The directions said if temperatures were about 85, to put the white side up. If lower than 85, put the black side up. But then again, why wouldn't I? They're so pretty! I have some of them positioned so I can see them from inside the house when I'm at the kitchen sink or sitting in the living room. When I get back from my trip, I will be putting out more flowers. I want to try some "bags" that I saw that hang from walls, see if I can get flowers hanging all along the back fence!
