Surely you’d transition back to “normal civilisation” perfectly easily, just with a bit more barely-perceptible but intriguing grit and worldliness in your demeanour.

That’s how I imagine it anyhow.

Isabella and I were musing on the adversaries we reckoned we could fight off bare-handed, although we were unsure of how/if we might transition back to ‘normal civilisation’ afterwards…

Seems like you lived nicely up to the expected response too, which is “crepi lupo!” or “death to the wolf”*

* assuming a metaphorical wolf, naturally :-D

One reason (I think) for road continuing as path is the difference between public and private land.

You see that near the village I grew up in, where a fair few roads have corners where the straight-on bit leads to the Coach Road. So named, as it was the coach route onto Lord Derby or Lord Sefton’s estates (I forget which now).

Presumably in olden days there was no difference visible, but then when the public road got tarmac, there wouldn’t be the finance or necessarily desire from the private landowner.

I went round a month or so ago, concentrating on the bikes rather than anything else (I was pushing two sleeping toddlers, and inside when they might wake up), but one of the bits I found most affecting was crossing the picket line in the 1970s gallery – being shouted at like that was quite a jolt.

Looks like a very interesting project – look forward to seeing how it develops!

I got the sense this was budgeted in to the process – that people who were suitable but not successful would get some time spend on them, those on the long or short-list, maybe.
