One Country which dishonors the sacrifices of those who served to protect it is Canada. The propaganda, constantly in the media is reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

This is English Canada, with no offence intended for those of the many minority language househods in the area, French among them. In English Canada, outside of the English minority that live in Quebec, there are Leafs fans and anti-Leafs fans. Habs, as a religion, is confined to that area north of the Ottawa river and west of the Gaspe. I would even go out on a limb to say there are probably more Thrashers fans in Woolwich than there are Habs fans. Those so called Habs fans in this area would have been cheering for the Habs over the Leafs on Saturday because they are anti-Leafs fans and not because it is the second tenet of their religion.
In Quebec City, where there used to be Nordique fans, there is also a contingent of anti-Habs fans who would likely also be cheering for the Leafs on Saturday. These are not the true blue Leafers we see around here.
For Leafers the blue and white is not a religion, even though the new breed of Leafers are shrouded at birth in Leafs blankets to parents who have not lived long enough to see Lord Stanley's mug presented in Toronto. There is faith that it will be done again, but it is not a religious faith.
Don Cherry is hardly Lucifer, and God bless him for honouring our brave soldiers, even if you don't agree with them being used beyond their traditional blue helmetted role as peacekeepers. A tradition founded in the reign of Lester Pearson, and not founded in 1812, the Great War or the triumph over the Nazis. Noble causes nearly forgotten in this day and age, but soon to be remembered again next Wednesday.
Also, Phil Kessel is no saviour, nor will he be idolized like the great Maurice Richard. Leafers can respect the accomplishments of former Habs and even welcome the likes of Komisarek and Grabovski into the fold.
You may have been indoctrinated by the religious Habs who prey upon the anti-Leafs, but show a little respect for those of the other faith. And don't dwell on the selective past of the last 40 years. Enjoy the game, it was a good one.
Go Leafs go!

Gee! I guess it's too bad that this same council chased out the raceway and the revenues they would have provided to pay for all these capital projects.

How far does their moral certitude go? Is Gibson Park next.

Yet another example of how short-sighted this council truly is.
