This isn’t a perfect solution. What is with the users with disabled referrers? And no, a referrer isn’t a requirement in the world wide web. Include a second condition for an empty referrer and it’s really better

I’m not using FreeBSD anymore so I have no way of testing it on freebsd 8.
if libdkimtest and libdomainkeystest work correctly you should try to run my wrapper script directly and try to figure what the problem is .
As for brandon’s patch modifying the libs locations and includes shouldn’t be such a big deal.

Mihai, I’ve been using your script ever since freebsd 7.3 was released, and I’m curious since I’ve upgrade it to freebsd 8.0 I’m getting unable to run qmail-remote with the same working environment, just freebsd update. I’ve recompiled libdkim and libdomainkey just to fit the new environment.
Also the jm combined patch works perfect on bsd, but brandon’s patch needs modifications regarding libs locations and includes.

Have you faced the same problem as I’m getting here ? I know that eventually I will fix it anyway because it cannot run my system without dk / dkim, just curious if you had it already fixed.

You’re right about the acl definition. It was an error in my post. Thanks for letting me know.

As for the outgoing interface. Are you actually connecting to 1.1.1.2 or 1.1.1.3 and it still uses the main ip as outgoing ?

Thanks for your post. But it seems your solution doesn’t work on 2.7:

ACL name ‘acl_ip1′ not defined!
FATAL: Bungled squid.conf line 1269: tcp_outgoing_address 1.1.1.2 acl_ip1
Squid Cache (Version 2.7.STABLE3): Terminated abnormally.
failed!

So I had to modified

acl_ip1 src 1.1.1.2
acl_ip2 src 1.1.1.3

acl acl_ip1 src 1.1.1.2
acl acl_ip2 src 1.1.1.3

But finaly, it still doesn’t work. Squid will use the default route (1.1.1.1) instead of one of the defined outgoing interfaces. Any ideas? Configuration looks like this:

acl acl_ip1 src 1.1.1.2
acl acl_ip2 src 1.1.1.3
tcp_outgoing_address 1.1.1.2 acl_ip1
tcp_outgoing_address 1.1.1.3 acl_ip2

It’s probably a permission problem. Try to strace it and see where the error is.

You can use the other proxies as the “cache peers” for the main proxy. But you would need a script that would change the configuration of the main proxy and restart/reload it at regular intervals if you want to switch/rotate the peers.

Hi there… first of all… great article. I do have a question though which I just can NOT seem to find a solution and I am hoping you could point me into the correct direction.

I am trying to setup a single proxy server which essentially just acts as a relay for other proxy servers. My objective is to be able to enter a single proxy server into for example my web browser and automatically have this proxy server switch at regular intervals through a list of different proxy servers (with/without authentication). How can I do this?

Hi,

Managed to follow Rich step-by-step guide without error but when I tried to send a test mail I received “451 qq crashed (#4.3.0)” error.

Appreciate very much if anyone could help.
