Photoframd, i am an amateur photographer. but one which is very keen in wildlife outdoor photography. i love close up portraits or animal in action kinda shots. i want to purchase a DSLR that would serve my purpose and that i would stick with for a long time. and hopefully start taking part if photography competitions. i was just wondering on what camera to get. i was looking up canon 7D or the 6D. any suggestions please.

It's a great lens as long as you have enough light. As soon as the light starts to wane, you will need to push the ISO to 1600 and plan on some RAW clean-up in Lightroom. I have not used it indoors, but it would have the same low-light issue. Depending on your budget, you should also look at the Sigma 100-300mm f/2.8. It's an awesome zoom meant for low-light.

Dear Photoframd,
I'm seriously thinking about getting a long zoom. I enjoy bird photography and sporting events. The Sigma 50-500mm looks like the perfect range for me. I see you have one and seem to get good results with it. Do you think it would be good at a basketball game? Do you get sharp photos of the birds?
Thanks in advance.

The first generation Galaxy had a buggy GPS. It was a carry-over form the previous generation Samsung phones. GPS worked sometimes, but it was very slow to wake-up. Using GPS Status to download A-GPS Xtra Data will greatly help. Also try keeping your WIFI on. Android will use the WIFI network as an interim calibration until the GPS is fully awake. The good news - the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 do not suffer from a slow GPS. Good luck.

Very good point! It's an odd sound. The 7D was my first Canon to make that sound. The good news is after 3-years of active use, it has not affected the photo quality.
