Oh yes it was so nice seeing Jared and Jensen in-bed sleeping in T-shirts and waking up. It is the little things we do treasure. :0)

The brothers have really done a switching of roles this season. Dean is the one now who is hell-bent on getting revenge (shades of Sam in S4) and Sam is left trying to keep his brother from going off the deep end while suffering with his own demons.

Speaking of Sam and his hallucinations, I can’t believe we’ve been denied Mark Pellegrino’s presence for the whole season. He’s delightful and makes every scene he is in a pleasure to watch. I neither share nor understand all the fuss about Castiel from the SPN fandom, but the enthusiasm for Lucifer is totally justifiable and I gladly share it. Besides, we haven’t had a decent bad guy in ages. YED, Zachariah, how I miss thee, let me count the ways.

As for Dean, he’s always been an awesome brother but he’s not without his mistakes. If he weren’t so obsessed with revenge he could pay a little more attention to what is happening to his brother before things get worse.

Irony alert and all that. But I think there is no doubt that Dean planned to let Emma go (despite his protestations)…and Sam correctly did what Dean correctly did before…killed the monster.

I was so distracted by the excellent penmanship of the tagging that I completely missed the Mayor’s involvement.

i’m annoyed with glenn. “wahhh i thought of you when i was in danger. that means i can’t be with you. WAH.” what a false notion of masculinity. like rick and shane and the others don’t care about people?

i was actually the most grossed out about the leg thing. i think i watched 1/2 the episode through my fingers.

Besides, it simply could not be that the Dean-centric (even when it’s “about” Sam, the camera is on Dean) cannot be excused by a plot devise – I put it down to sloppy one sided writing! Also, it’s not a given that even if it is a Sam dream that that mean’s he’s a soulless vessle for Lucifer. Besides, I miss Blood Addict Sam, because a little Soulless Sam is good for the, er, soul.

Frankly, if any of the show has to be not real, I’m rooting for everything past season three to be Dean’s dreams while in Hell. It would explain the intense Dean POV that has been in effect since season four and would also explain why Sam has become pretty pretty wallpaper for so long. Plus it would get rid of a certain angel, who I never want to see again.

Okay, I don’t think either theory is true, mostly because it would suddenly seem like a waste of several years of my devotion to the show, but the “this is just a dream” theory is out there and I will support anything that means Sam isn’t a demon blood addict, soulless vessel for Lucifer.

I love your suggestions. Sam SHOULD have sat on Dean’s bed and maybe whapped his head with a pillow to get him to listen…or Dean should have been more attentive when Sam asked him if he was sleeping. And why on earth was Dean so tired anyway? It’s not like he was up all night researching. He just got cut into a little bit and not even beat up at all. I’ve seen him walk away from worse, take a slug of whiskey and keep going. I blame the actors for not pushing back at the writers to include more brotherly conversation!

And yes, Jensen Ackles can do wrong. I, Sylvia Bond, who is an SPN fan, and write about it every week, can testify that yes, he makes mistakes. He is human, after all, isn’t he? Why, just this week, he almost flubbed it and DROPPED the cellphone on the ground when he was tossing it onto his duffle, which was on the bed.

Being almost godlike in reflexes, however, he caught it and tossed it back, making it look very natural. Which is what actors do.

Where he makes his mistake is when he he puts up with having to speak the most static and boring lines an actor can be called upon to recite. He’s got to say so many chestnuts and clunkers and faux-zingers, he can barely get through them. But get through them he does, with barely a twitch to his manly brow. He must get tired, sometimes, of having Dean have such dumb things to say. Well, this ep was pretty okay, except not much of what he had to say was TO Sam. So yes, Ackles makes mistakes – he should PUSH back for more interesting dialog for Dean, but he doesn’t. I mean, he’s got the chops and the clout, so why not take those for a spin and see what they can do?

#1. Pelligrino is perfect in this role and he and Padalecki are very fun to watch together. I imagine offscreen, they chat over coffee to discuss the most effective use of their shared screen time together. Unlike Padalecki and Ackles, who share so little screen time, it’s not even worth a memo, sadly.

#2 and #3. It’s been a while since I so loved a motel room that the boys were in. Plus we got to see them IN bed, in T-shirts, sleeping AND waking up! It’s the little things you treasure.

#4. Throwback to the old Samhair, you mean. : D

#5. Sam in the library is a natural, and should happen more often.

#6. The scriptwriters were on with Pelligrino this ep, his sarcastic asides and bon mots were HIL-arious.

I’ll be writing the review for the previous clown/unicorn ep during the upcoming brief hiatus. But truly, what can one say about rainbow farting unicorns?

As for the rainbow farting unicorn? There is a particular SPN gossip fan site that refers to Jensen as farting rainbows because he can do no wrong in the eyes of SPN fandom. Also, have you seen the mock up pictures of Jensen as a unicorn? He is aware of it and said that his wife Danneel showed it to him one day on the internet. I’m wondering if the writers were winking at the fans with that bit.

I only have time for a short post but I did want to drop by and let you know what I loved about this week’s episode.

1). Seriously, Mark Pellegrino is just sublime. He is delicious I say! He is creepy and scary and just reels me in whenever he is on the screen. I love the interaction between Mark and Jared. Kudos to both!

2). Grotty hotel room – This one in particular was just about perfect. :0)

3). Sam and Dean sleeping………… Yum!

4). I did enjoy the throwback feeling of this episode.

5). Sam doing research in the library

6). ” A men’s room with beds”

Oh, and Sylvia I have to give a shout out to your “hand job” reference. Perfect!

I have to get back to work now.
