Hi Andrew,

"Not support" does not mean "will not run". I have QuarkXPress 8, 9, 10, 2015 and 2016 running on my El Capitan machine.

The biggest hurdle is the Installer for QuarkXPress 8 and 9, as it doesn't recognize Apple's version count correctly. A migrated copy will run though.

And for QuarkXPress 10 we are offering an unsupported version that does not crash on El Capitan: http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads/Details.aspx?fid=328

Does this help? Thanks!

All very well Quark saying they won't support older versions of Quark - I use Quark 15, but I have clients still running 8 and 9 who won't upgrade, so I need to be able to use 10 and 9 in order to backsave to files my clients can use. Therefor the limitations of Quark prevent me from changing my OS to El Capitan.
Or life would be a lot simpler if Quark could just backsave to older versions than the one immediately preceding.

I am also a beta tester of the new version of Quarkpress 2016 I had the honor to test preview (sorry for the English but my native language is French). I fully share the opinion of this first review and can say that Quark has developed here the best version of its software. I am user of the Windows version since 3.

The launch is very fast. Less than 7 seconds to be operational (since the click until the appearance of functional menu). I work under: OS: Windows 10 - Intel I5 - 4670K 4 CORE 3.4 GHz - RAM: 16 GB - SSD.

The new GUI is clear and pleasant. The display is fluid and efficient. QuarkXpress is always the most intuitive to use. You must test it and adopt it!

Hello,

I know this post was written in 2008, but I think this issue remains valid. I am using QuarkXpress 2015 and I am still looking for the implementation of micro typography package as in (La)TeX, or in newer typesetting suite, InDesign.

What I really need is a clearly defined way to enable protrusion for certain character, that is, slightly move some characters like hyphen, or round edge character like "o" out of margin bound. Is there a package to help achieving such optical alignment in QuarkXpress???

Thanks!

As you know, QuarkXPress 10 is NOT supported under El Capitan and Quark also doesn't plan to add support for this combination.

If you need a supported version of QuarkXPress under El Capitan, then please use QuarkXPress 2015.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

However some users absolutely needed QuarkXPress 10 to work under El Capitan (10.5.2 crashes almost immediately under El Capitan), e.g. for downsaving.

Therefore Quark just released a special version of QuarkXPress 10, which is completely unsupported, however does not crash under El Capitan e.g. when moving the mouse cursor over a palette:

IMPORTANT: AS THIS IS A JUST BRIEFLY TESTED VERSION OF QUARKXPRESS 10 AND IS NOT SUPPORTED BY QUARK, PLEASE TEST THOROUGHLY YOURSELF BEFORE USING FOR PRODUCTION!
