@ TexasHeather....good to see you! As you can see the blog has been pretty quiet. Mostly because they actually expect me to study and write papers and stuff at school. Sigh. Maybe I'll post the homilies I am writing for class and call it blogging.

@Dawn....I'm pretty sure that God does not have a contract with iPhone to send ghosts for "Ghost Caller." I don't know what you saw but I know that fooling around with the supernatural is dangerous indeed. I think that even if I had an iPhone (and I don't) I would not be inclined to invite supernatural interaction of any sort with that app. I believe strongly that God does indeed send supernatural messengers when we need it, Sacred Scripture certainly testifies to that. However, I do think it is very important to note that God SENDS these messengers and messages and that they are not called or sought. Seeking such interaction is a violation of the commandments.

Sorry to bug you with this but I was wondering if you think it is possible to visibly see people in purgatory? I purchased an iphone app called Ghost Caller and while using it I was literally able to see ghosts all around my bedroom. I'm betting these were people in purgatory but I'm not sure. I invited some of my friends over to use the program as well (to make sure I wasn't crazy) and they saw the beings throughout the room as well. Could you try it out and let me know what you think?
Thanks,
Dawn7

This is a timely mandate/intention for me. I just had an urge to find your blog again, and this was what I found, what I needed today. Hmm. Me-thinks perhaps 'twas not coincidence, ya think?

Here is my humble attempt at singing the Exsultet that I posted for others to use while practicing for the Vigil.

Not perfect, but not bad either, IMHO.

Thanks for the post, I've never been to Mardi Gras and my brief visit to the French Quarter years ago left me with a bad impression (http://blogs.pioneerlocal.com/religion). Glad to hear there is more to this celebration.

Then there's those of us who saw your post and panicked. Mardi Gras!? I thought Lent started next month!

My relationship to Mardi Gras (have never lived in a region where it existed before it was introduced by alcohol marketers) reminds me of the time I ran into a Jewish professor on Ash Wednesday. "Is it Ash Wednesday already? I need to start getting ready for Passover"

There's a historic connection that doesn't mean much to me personally, but it is more prevalent than what I want to celebrate and serves as a useful reminder to begin my own preparations.

Erin they DO? I did not know that. I have class on Tuesday nights or I'd be making blueberry pancake with freshly ground whole wheat.

Will I hope you enjoy your debauchery....I mean pancakes! You could have them circled in blueberries and pretend those are beads.

Pancakes and sausage, absolutely right. Our family tradition for Shrove Tuesday (we came home to Rome from Anglicanism about a year and a half ago) is go to out for pancakes. Since I've been on a low-carb diet since forever, those pancakes are a joy and a delight, too. Much more fun than beads.

Erynccava, I confess to you that I am a blog idiot. I had a nice simple blog that I could understand and work (it's still available at postscripts.blog.com same content, different address) and then a friend assured me that she would help me if I would get a dot com address. Well she did set it up and then she got busy and here I am with this blog that I am terrifed to change lest I crash the whole thing!! Bottom line...I don't know how to subscribe to my own blog via RSS. I DO know that I love Google Reader because all you do is put in the URL and it figures out how to subscribe for you. HTH.
