The aim of this site is to bring you the latest info on Pro Tools from a media perspective. We aim to update daily with news, tips, reviews, and topics to discuss. We try to satisfy both the high-end pro studio and the low-end studio alike but this site is not primarily music focused. Last but not least, Pro Tools for Media is not in any way affiliated with Digidesign or their partners.

I have added a<a href="http://www.osd-uk.com/protoolsformedia/index.php/update/digidesign-announce-pro-tools-le-and-m-powered-v8-0-4-updates/" rel="nofollow"> subsequent post</a> about the LE and M Powered updates

Reading the Read Me for the LE updates it says...

Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 for Mac OS X supports the following operating systems:

    * Mac OS X 10.6.1 – 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard)
          o While 10.6.4 is not yet fully qualified with Pro Tools, our preliminary compatibility and performance testing has found no issues
    * Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)

An Intel-based Mac is required, PowerPC-based Macs are not supported.

So you are correct, OK for 10.5.8 and up to 10.6.3 but not for 10.6.4 for LE.

Brian, It sounds like an expander and for drying up speech in a reverberant space it works well but it isn't a miracle machine. Mike

Wow. I wonder how it works. Is it just an expander, or is there something else going on? I've been telling clients for years its pretty much impossible to remove reverb!

For what it's worth. I have a habit of leaving PT (HD 8) running for an hour os so at a time to record large live sessions of 10 to 20 open mics. On three occasions - and on at least one a freeze-up style crash occurred - (but not on the other two incidents) there was absolutely NO record of the last session upon reopening PT. I know this is sloppy detailing for you, but I have seen this accursed behavior and been the target of well-deserved artist wrath. With a respected and seasoned tool like PT HD there is little cred in telling the artist that it crashed or did something 'really weird' and lost all of their creative outpourings. So I take the blame as the operator. My deep sympathies go out to you.

Mark, I just discovered your blog and I rank it as outstanding. I will refer all my future questions about Pro Tools 8.0 here first and tell others in the recording business about it too.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Carlos for these comments. I haven't upgraded to 8.0.3 or 8.0.4 partly because of these problems so I cannot comment personally. Anyone else care to comment?
