@Ezra: of course its about the ads. No one “reads” a phone book. Not even those of us in the industry….

@Stephen: On average about 75% of all ads in a print directory change in some fashion over the course of a year — telephone number changes, addresses, mergers/buyouts, new logo’s, new brands, new hours of operation etc. etc.. There is a lot of great info that is in those ads in the books, which is why they are such a valuable source

I bet you’re right about the change for phone numbers, but I imagine the Ads change far more frequently, which is what is paying for the books to get made in the first place, mandate or no.

Quite frankly, I think this is the problem that is most common when people rely to much on interpreters and compilers to do so-called “higher-level language to machine language conversion” instead of actually programming in assembly language in the first place. I understand that programming in higher-level languages can be useful in porting code to different platforms, but ultimately you are relying on a box of rocks to do the thinking for you, and this will cause problems.

The curve of the terraces creates the optical illusion this made use of a fisheye or very wide angle lens. Note the top of picture with the buildings is relatively flat inconsistent with a fisheye effect.

Pretty much I had to take this picture because the appearance reminded me of the effect.

Good luck, my friend. It can be really intense coming back from Pilgrimage…so much to process. And yet, you don’t want to settle back into life as usual. I totally understand what you mean.
