Christine, Seth is thirteen and in the first year of Secondary School. He is in the normal classroom with a slightly modified program (simplified tasks and reduced work load) with some assistance from a shared teacher aide. I think the general classroom can be a bit overwhelming for him but his IQ is above 70 so he doesn’t qualify for special education. We finish term in three weeks, when we have a two week break which marks halfway in our school year. Seth is hanging out for the holidays!

Ugh, I feel for you. How old is Seth again? Does the school downsize his assignments? Sveta is actually very good about doing her homework as long as it is not overwhelming— but her schoolwork is at her ability and pushes her only enough.

Hang in there– isn’t school almost out for you guys?

Thanks Sue…yes I am subscribed to NOFASARD. I have also heard you speak at a couple of foster-care conferences over the years, which started me off on the journey to obtain a diagnosis for Seth. Keep up all the good work.

OW, We are lucky that Angel’s Grandma has agreed that we should see him occasionally and acknowledges that he is missing us, so we will be having him for respite weekends once a month, probably for six months. I know from past placements that these visits will be bitter/sweet. I will so enjoy having him with me for that 48 hours, but saying goodbye each time will be hard for both of us, Janine

Well I’m from Florda in I grew up in foster care. So I know first hand there army enough homes. How ever if they let gay family foster children then there would be more homes. But no people are to closed minded for that. I had gay foster parents and they where the best outta all the homes I had been in. Maybe people should think about that.
