When My ex roommate and I shared an apartment I really started to think I HATED kids. I mean I flat out thought I was starting to despize the daylights out of them. The constant noise, the constant neediness, the constant everything and even started resenting my own child. Then I moved out and their were different factors involved. Now I am not saying these factors apply to ALL situations but just mine in general.1. 3 is a bad number.don't know why it just is. They get odd man out syndrome? With two they keep eachother occupied, with 4 they usually do the same but do so in pairs. 3 is just bad bad bad.2. It depends on The ages 3-5 yrs old THE worst! they know what they want but do not have the capacity to get it themselves.one of two things apply here.....They are either CONSTANTLY bugging you or they will go get themselves and either getting something they shouldn't or you end up with 2 gallons of juice on the floor---either way your still getting interupted.I am assuming Ellie's friends are her age? Woman you must be nuts LOL 3 four year olds have been known to bring down entire villages LOL3. It also depends on WHO's kids they are. Even if you love them and love their kids--they are raising their children differently and when you combine those backgrounds--it can sometimes reveal itself. My ex roommate (now she's probably NOT at all like your friends and I am not comparing your friends to her at all but using her as an example) She never tells her kid "No" and the few times she did, she did so inconsistently. She neglects her kids for her social life (to the point of there are times I should have called CPS and feel guilty to this day that I didn't). the horror stories I could tell you would knock your socks off. In my defense I didn't contact them because I had contacted their father who lives 900 miles away and he asked me not to because he IS in fact trying to get custody of them, however now that I think it about contacting CPS might have aided that process quicker but I trust CPS as much as I trust a 4 year old to NOT grab a cookie off the counter while your not looking! OMG those kids were awful! and was all her own doing. They were both bright funny wonderful children they just have no idea how to behave (goes back to your saying no to kids blog) these kids were bad even for their ages 4 and 7. I often found myself agreeing to watch them while she went out partying because I felt they were better off and if I didn't she would have her even more irresponsable 14 year old watch them.Since I have been out and away from THOSE children, I have in fact been in situations where I was watching others children, 2,3,4 and even 5 at a time and I was fine. Some cases they were better because of age Mason is now 8 years old and his friends are around the same age--they no how to NOT spill the juice and if they do they know how to clean it up--they had better parents then my ex roommate for sure....and the younger ones I have watched were my two youngest nephews 3 years old and 3 months old. The 3 year is fairly self sufficent to play nicely with his cars or watch his movies. He does get into the mommy mommy mommy or Aunt Jesse Jesse Jesse routine while we are trying to have a conversation but he IS 3 and when you tell him to stop he does so. And the 3 month old? He's easy, change his diapers, feed him and since he's immobile yet so if you have to put him in the pack and play to go to bathroom it's not an issue. The only time I feel bad is situations like last night at my brothers--When ALL the cousins are together-- the age ranges are 10,8,6,3 yrs and the 3 mo old is fine but 3 yr old kind of gets left out because the older ones are trusted to play in the neighborhood but hes is just to young to allow him to go running off with them. I can take the 3 yr old and the 3 month old at the same time however because Mason helps keep the 3 yr old occupied (provided his friends or older aged cousins aren't trapsing off with him.)It DOES get better though T! I promise! It's THAT age! Mason alone that age gave me adult meltdowns I couldn't imagine 3 of them!

Hmmmmmmm I feel the same way LOL However there are a lot of different factors.
